Saints S Rafael Bush fined $21,000 for last week's hit on Percy Harvin, league confirms per Mort Report
Is that almost his whole signing bonus?

Don't know how he was allowed back in the game

I don't even agree it was illegal.

Yep or lead with your hands and suffer a broken hand, wrist or arm.

Well he wouldn't have hit him if Harvin wouldn't have been flag guarding. Stupid rule is stupid. At first I was like that was an awesome but dumb hit. But when I watch it again he really wasn't head hunting, ole' dip ducked his head because he knew he was about to get blown up. I can deal with the penalty on the field but the fine is stupid.

Based on the rules of the game yes it should have been both.
Now, you can argue against the rule but that doesn't matter in this instance.

Ill argue against the call. Rafael leads with his shoulder and the crown of Harvin's helmet hits him in the ear hole. They are essentially running at 90 degree angles to each other and Rafael get's there first and Harvin's head initiates the contact the helmet contact.
Is the league claiming that Rafael swung his head to initiate contact? Some kind of head butt ninja move? Or is the league claiming defenders must get their heads out of the way of oncoming offensive players heads?

Lester you think that should be a flag? That surprises me.

(b) Prohibited contact against a player who is in a defenseless posture is:
(1) Forcibly hitting the defenseless player’s head or neck area with the helmet, facemask, forearm, or shoulder, even if the initial contact of the defender’s helmet or facemask is lower than the passer’s neck, and regardless of whether the defensive player also uses his arms to tackle the defenseless player by encircling or grasping him;
Note 2: A player who initiates contact against a defenseless opponent is responsible for avoiding an illegal act. This includes illegal contact that may occur during the process of attempting to dislodge the ball from an opponent. A standard of strict liability applies for any contact against a defenseless opponent, even if the opponent is an airborne player who is returning to the ground or whose body position is otherwise in motion, and irrespective of any acts by the defenseless opponent, such as ducking his head or curling up his body in anticipation of contact.

THIS
Legal hit
Announcers commented helmet on helmet, when they didn't even touch. Pure B.S. He should have been proud of that hit. Completely clean legal slobber knocker

So if the team decides to pay for the fine, it's that legal? I'm sure that's circumventing the salary cap, right?
Posted on 1/17/14 at 7:09 pm to Gtothemoney
holy shite, that's 4% of the dude's yearly salary before taxes, probably closer to 10% after. that's a full month's pay. how the frick do they assign these values? is it based on salary, or do they pull it out of their asses?

Same hit by someone on Lance Moore doesn't get a flag, fine or apology. It's the Bountygate crap, Carroll being a complete bitch, and Harvin being an accurate depiction of that part of a woman's anatomy that they are prone to getting sand in.

While I agree the rule is bullshite, the flag on that type of hit is coming every time.
Now I would like to know how they come up with the amounts.
