My Xbox 360 will not read any disks. It just spins and then "open" shows on the screen. As if it doesn't recognize a disk is in the drive. Any ideas?

Take a bottle of windex or any other sprayable chemical cleaner, open the disk drive and let it fly.

I've had the same 360 since 2006. Never had the RROD or any problems. In mid-November it started doing the same thing yours is doing. I got an Xbox One and haven't tried to fix the 360. The laser is probably done if I had to guess.

It only happens to my roommate's Ghost disk. If plays for a few minutes and always closes out.

I am a Halo gamer though.

Could be dust on the lens. You can try a DVD lens cleaner or just NES it by blowing in the open drive

clean the dvd, and your other games.

could be a game, that is really dirty, gumming it up.

i had an mw2 disk, that i never took out, and had that problem, took it out, and it looked like some one spewd on it, cleaned it and it worked perfect again, drive reader also worked perfectly again,

It's not the game because it happens which any other disk. Something must be wrong with the laser. It is making funny noises. I'm thinking it's dead.

I have had this problem before. I was able to resolve it by taking the DVD drive apart and cleaning the lens with alcohol and a qtip. There are plenty of videos on YouTube showing you the process. If its fricked anyway, you really really don't have anything to lose.

P.S. you can lube the track the lens slides on while your in there as that is likely the loud noise you are hearing.
