it's such an important position

2012- first 3 rounds
luck,rg3,tannehill,russel wilson,foles

2011- first 3 rounds
cam, dalton, kaepernick

there were other QBs taken like Weeden, locker, gabbert, ponder....but when you frick up, you lose 2 years or more and have to grab another QB anyway

just get it done...it's that important.

hell 3 of the past 6 super bowls were won by teams without what i consider franchise QBs

i have stated, however, since the new CBA, that teams should pick more 1st round QBs (especially late in the 1st)

If Locker wasnt always hurt he would be a good QB. Its a shame that he cant get his career going because hes always hurt.

Honestly, in this day and age, I think the formula for long term success is not paying QBs those huge contracts. Go grab someone in FA, go nab someone in the second round who fits well.

I wouldn't trade Brees for anyone, but man, it'd be nice to have 20 mil a year in cap space to work with elsewhere too.

unless you're simply amazing at drafting, the new QB pricing is not sustainable

Exactly. You almost have to hit on every draft pick because you can't afford to bring in any top flight FAs

This is the old SFP TDFL auction strategy.

he can't get his career going bc he's not any good. Like Sam Bradford, if you can't tell by now, he's not going to make it

But as a texans fan, I hope he has a pretty good (for him) season next year bc I know he'll never be elite, ultimately limiting a division rival for the long term. Jake locker doesn't scare anyone but titans fans

Flacco, Eli Manning, Aaron Rodgers, Brees, and Roethlisberger. Which aren't franchise QB's? Is your definition of "franchise QB" the same as elite? Either way the only one of those that wasn't a first round pick was Brees, and I think we can all agree that he's a franchise QB.

eli and flacco

roth is a franchise QB, but certainly not an elite QB. if you want to pay him elite QB money ($20m/year), then l-o-l

technically speaking, he was picked 32nd, which would a first rounder today....
