I was watching Duck Dynasty the other day, Phil talked about how he loves ducks and was always interested in ducks.

At football practice when he was in college, he would see ducks flying overhead and mention how pretty they are. Then the coach would yell at him.

Then he hunts them, kills them, and eats them.

This is in stark contrast to other animal lovers who want to coddle animals and think killing innocent animals is wrong. They'd see innocent little ducks and couldn't imagine killing one.

So how is it logical for a hunter to love animals yet kill them at the same time?

Have you ever had smothered venison tenderloin with rice and gravy? I can make a deer wrap (venison tenderloin, cream cheese, jalapeno wrapped in bacon) that would make you slap your momma.

Well, I'm not into it or anything, but I heard that you take their hind legs and stick em down the tops of your boots.

I just don't get the point of hunting when everyone lives within a few miles of a grocery store.

But seriously, hunters contribute way more to the survival of sport animals than they ever harvest. Deer are everywhere, ducks are abundant (DU) and quail are making something of a come back (QU). The wild turkey was almost gone 40 years ago or so (NWTF).

Hunters love animals for the exact reason in your OP. Hunters can use the animals to provide sustenance for themselves, family, and friends. Do you think that meats of all types arrive in the store miraculously as no animals were killed in the process of them being wrapped in plastic?

Hunters want to conserve the habitat (environment) and the game they hunt for their hunts next year and for their grandchildren and their grandchildren's grandchildren. That's what sense they love these animals (and environment). They want to conserve the game and their habitat for future generations.

Well not the quail, but that is out of the hunter's hands. Habitat changes have all but doomed the quail...

No... I know animals are killed for me to eat. But I'm not really an "animal lover".

I'm just trying to understand how a person can love animals and kill those animals.

Pheasant is Iowa are dwindling due to farking ethanol and people planting from fence to fence, loss of cover and nesting has really hammered the population.
