"By 1968 you can’t say “n—” — that hurts you. Backfires. So you say stuff like forced busing, states’ rights and all that stuff. You’re getting so abstract now, you’re talking about cutting taxes, and all these things you’re talking about are totally economic things and a byproduct of them is, blacks get hurt worse than whites.

It's a pretty good article. It quotes from Lee Atwater who helped get Reagan elected. It also looks at Reagan's speeches which were full of code words for states' rights and blacks have gotten too much at the expense of whites.

What!!!! This is news!!! OMG!!! Why didn't anybody see through this nastiness before?

Thanks dude for being the first to expose this board to the racism and hatred of Reagan. Unraveling the Code is ground breaking stuff.

You are a true treasure.

It's Republicans who want to make it harder to vote by instilling voter ID laws. Why create another step to voting unless you want to discourage voting.

I have nothing against a community that’s made up of people who are Polish or Czechoslovakian or French-Canadian, or who are blacks trying to maintain the ethnic purity of their neighborhoods. This is a natural inclination on the part of the people. I don’t think government ought to deliberately try to break down an ethnically oriented neighborhood by artificially injecting into it someone from another ethnic group just to create some form of integration.

I dunno, to ensure fair elections? Lots of dead people voting.....

If you would like to be taken seriously you should post articles that don't make so many wild assumptions and associate things that are not connected.
