Spin-off of the LSU Football GOAT thread. What's the best team you can assemble out of the guys who played since Miles took the job in January 2005?

I'm not really sure on the interior OL, and it was hard leaving out some of the available DL, but otherwise I think I've got a good list.

QB: JaMarcus Russell, Zach Mettenberger
HB: Jeremy Hill, Stevan Ridley
HB: Joseph Addai, Charles Scott
FB: Jacob Hester, Quinn Johnson
WR: Dwayne Bowe, Rueben Randle
WR: Brandon LaFell, Craig Davis
WR: Jarvis Landry, Odell Beckham Jr.
TE: Richard Dickson, DeAngelo Peterson
OT: Andrew Whitworth, Ciron Black
OT: Joseph Barksdale, Chris Faulk
OG: Herman Johnson, Josh Dworaczyk
OG: Will Blackwell, T-Bob Hebert
C: P.J. Lonergan, Brett Helms

DE: Barkevious Mingo, Rahim Alem
DE: Sam Montgomery, Tyson Jackson
DT: Glenn Dorsey, Drake Nevis
DT: Kyle Williams, Claude Wroten
LB: Perry Riley, Ryan Baker
LB: Kevin Minter, Cameron Vaughn
LB: Kelvin Sheppard, Ali Highsmith
CB: Patrick Peterson, Chevis Jackson
CB: Morris Claiborne, Tharold Simon
CB: Tyrann Mathieu, Ron Brooks
FS: Eric Reid, LaRon Landry
SS: Brandon Taylor, Craig Steltz

K: Josh Jasper, Drew Alleman
P: Brad Wing, Patrick Fisher
RET: Trindon Holliday, Mathieu/Peterson

Quinn Johnson should be in at FB and Mike Brockers in at DT. There should be a better OG selection than Hebert and a better DE selection than Alem. Patrick Peterson was a better returner than Beckham.

You should do this by year. In other words, give me 2013 Jeremy Hill as my Tailback.2012 Met wouldn't be in the conversation, but 2013 Mett may be.

These are for their careers under Miles, so individual years where certain players excelled are a big factor, but not the only one.

I realized I forgot the special teams guys and threw them in real fast, you're right about Peterson. I can see Johnson at FB over Copeland, will probably change both of those.

But I think the four DTs listed are above Brockers. All four of them were All-Americans, Brockers was a 2nd team All-SEC guy (according to LSUsports.net's bio). He and Bennie Logan are both really good DTs that I couldn't really justify over the four All-Americans up there. LSU's had too many good DTs during the Miles era to pick just four!

edit: I'm really not sure about the interior OL, I agree that there should be a better one than Hebert, but who? Blackwell and Johnson were really good, but after that it drops off pretty significantly. DE is kind of a grab bag after Jackson, Mingo and Montgomery so I could see someone else going. (Melvin Oliver? Lavar Edwards? Pep Levingston?)

Edwards was better than Sam in their final year, but I would still have Sam ahead of him for what Sam did as a Junior.

Kyle Williams and Claude Wroten were really good players for LSU.

However, Michael Brockers was special. Best run stuffer at LSU in a LONG time.

Also, Jarvis, Odell, and Randle were better than Lafell.

Still a really solid list.

LaRon Landry was a Saban recruit, and so was a few other guys. When Miles took over, he was able to maintain some recruits but they were not his guys.

Miles team should be consisted of his players, only. What would be a good study is the following:

LSU's All Saban Team vs All Miles Team.

Now that is a spring game I would pay to see, lol.
