This from a Vandy insider. Post has since been taken down...

Already past midnight so gonna start this new thread for the day upcoming.I have been on the phone and internet all night long trying to gather as much information about what's going on as I can. I don't want to be the guy that brings bad news or negative talk but I felt like I needed to bring our followers the information I have been told. Here it is...- I have talked with multiple reliable sources here in our area and I feel confident enough now to officially say James Franklin will be the next head coach at Penn St.- I have heard that Franklin has been booked to Penn St since earlier this week. I was told Franklin has calculated this whole time frame and almost purposely dragged this thing out. Now I truly don't know if that's what his intentions were but that's how it played out.- I was told Penn St has been his job all along and has been working behind the scenes calculating even his assistants to carry out particular tasks. If you remember earlier this week John Donovan and Bob Shoop began to follow Penn St recruits and I was told that was done on purpose and not done in favor for recruiting them to Vanderbilt.- I don't want to go too far with this but I was also told the assistants coaches very well know what it going on, maybe not all of them but some and have purposely said they have no idea so they could begin working behind closed doors for Penn St.- I was also told that Charles Bankins has been actively contacting current Penn St players and telling them he is excited about coaching them in Happy Valley. If you go look at who Bankins is following now current PSU TE Adam Brenneman will be found.- I have also been talking with some current Vandy players tonight and believe or not what all I just told you is exactly what they are starting to hear as well. Some players are starting to get real disgusted with this whole situation. They are still strong together as a team but feel lied to and misguided by Coach Franklin. The feeling is beginning to be that Franklin has wanted to get out of Vandy all along but was just waiting for that next great opportunity to leave. Now I know all this is probably a lot to see but like I said I felt like I needed to bring this info here from some trusted sources of mine so maybe the VU followers could get a better feel for whats goin on and maybe begin to look towards a new coach!#AnchorDown6 hours ago

Can you blame him? Vandy is not a destination job, there isn't a coach in America that wouldn't have jumped from VU to PSU. I expect most would take a pay cut too.

lets be honest.......taking Vandy in the hopes of something better coming along is not smart, considering the history of the program and its lack of success.

if this is true, Franklin is a hell of a risk taker, but lets be realistic - he has done a lot of good for Vandy int he time he was there.

that article smacks of an asshurt Vandy Fan that Franklin is leaving. at least to me anyway

Did Vandy really believe they would keep a good coach around?

Personally I think Vandy is a better job than PSU, PSU is the yankee version of the t-sips too many "Paterno people" still undermining coaches decisions and trying to sabotage the program according Bill O'Brien.

I'm having a hard time understanding why this insider thinks this is groundbreaking news. I could have pieced this whole thing together based on ticker info and radio bits. I guess they are from Vandy, but even casual CFB fans know this is how shite works.

Its kinda like reading an article written by the WSJ or NYT on college athletics. "Sources tell us that most college football players don't care about going to class, and only attend to stay eligible. Even more shocking, these same sources tell us that some players would prefer to be drafted to a professional football league rather than graduate from their institution of higher learning."

Most of us accept him leaving for another job. It's the alleged sabotage that is starting to piss us off. Hell, if he had waited to start grabbing Vandy recruits until after the ink was drying on his new contract, I could handle that. But taking a steaming shite on your current employer is totally classless. It's all based on speculation, and I hope it's untrue.

Of course he is. Just about every head coach in college football is. You get over it and welcome the next guy.

I missed when Bill O'Brien left but after googling I guess he's with the Texans now? I thought he would have stayed at PSU a little longer.

Anyways, Franklin was always going to move onto greener pastures and he certainly wasn't going to get another big gig in the SEC soon. Penn. St. is a good fit. If the recruiting stuff is true than that's shitty.
