The wife and I are looking to take a vacation to San Diego around Easter. We will be staying at a Hilton property because of reward points. Just wondering what is the best area to stay?

Bayfront/Gaslamp district, Mission Valley?

Gas lamp is nice... We stayed at the Hilton that connects to the ballpark... Nice pool, view of water and the bridge crosses over into the park area and your walking distance to gas lamp area.. Cool bars and good food. Don't ask about shopping.... Grab you a Pliny the elder while your there.

It is really down to this one and the Hilton Gaslamp district. They are not very far apart so I'm thinking about going with Gaslamp because its 40K points cheaper for our stay. But if the Bayfront is badass then it would be worth it to us.

Do yourself a favor and go to the Point Loma National Monument, especially the tidepools.

Other than the beach, the zoo and Sea World, what are the main attractions around SD?

La Jolla

It reminded me of Beverly Hills but on the beach. Really pristine.

It all depends what you want out of your vacation. I don't know how people can say Gaslamp or Carlsbad when they have no idea what your plans are? Do you guys want to hang at the beach, go to the zoo and other attractions, golf, go to clubs.....what?
