I bought it for my military type pilot watch and I'm wondering what the colors mean, if anything. I want to know if asked.

I think that's just a generic NATO band. Where'd you get it from? Interested in getting one myself.

The dark blue is the color of the NATO flag. The red represents the blood of the Americans who died in the civil war, and the light blue is because the guy who invented NATO was a Tarheel fan...I think.

what the colors mean

The NATO watch band (originating with the British military, not NATO) was issued in grey only. So those colors don't have any special relationship to the band.

ETA: It got the name "NATO" because it had a NATO stock number with the British military.

Yea, it'll be great. I bought the deployment clasp for the watch I bought, so it will come with the brand name buckle. I'll put the Stowa buckle on that canvas strap and it will look factory. Here's the watch it's going on.

NATO and ZULU are the two full strap bands on the market, meaning you can blow out one spring bar and the watch stays with you. The ZULU has different hardware...which is why I generically use the term NATO. Just more squared off hardware.

Well, it does not signify anything as far as NATO and US Forces are concerned. All US NATO ribbons are simply Blue & White, like this for example....

I'm thinking this band does not symbolize anything. However, my best educated guess would say if it does symbolize anything, it would most likely be a UN medal of some sort.

I didn't say it symbolized something, I was just being sensitive to the fact that it might. It's a really hard thing to google.
