I think he should stay honestly. If theyre willing to match it looks like they may finally spend money. If there was ever a time to take over the state of Tennessee its certainly now.

I'm not a Nashville native, but have lived there long enough to see Vanderfan heartbroken time and time again with near wins, false hope and coaches filing out of clown cars one after the other.

I hope they can stop the revolving door, at least for another good recruiting year and get on the right track.

Moving to PSU apparently means dealing with "well Paterno would have done this..." yeah...frick that.

While that might be the rumor on the interlinks, or perhaps even reality, what's proven to Franklin is that he has to spend a great deal of time begging people to come to football games.

He needs to strike while the iron is hot. A few 5-7 and 6-6 type seasons and Franklin won't be an appealing candidate for big jobs.

Change out all or most of the bleachers for seats. Bathrooms are awful and concessions are too. Make it a stadium (albeit small) that we don't have to apologize for.

I went to the LSU-Vandy game in '10 I believe and was amazed at how bad the stadium was. Vandy has the potential to have a nice little stadium. I would do away with the benches and have real seats, put up a nice facade, and fix the bathrooms and concessions (then convince LSU to do the same).

Exactly. Bill King was saying this morning that Gary Patterson was likely the last "hot" coach who tried to stick it out at a school that he'd made temporarily relevant, stubbed his toe a few times in the seasons since, and hasn't been mentioned for one of the big jobs whatsoever.

I'm going to disagree with that but I don't have any numbers to back me up.

You would be wrong.

Vandy has a 3.4 billion endowment to Penn State's 1.8 billion.

The final chance was with this recruiting class and JF lost everyone we targeted to us. Two 5 stars and ton of 4 stars. Jones' arrival was the worst thing that could happen to CJF because Jones is hell on wheels when it comes to recruiting (this surprised everyone).

Without being able to snag this incoming class and with the loss of talent outward, especially the loss of the best player they've ever had, the fun times are over for CJF. Next year is gonna be tough.

Vandy isn't like Auburn/Bama or Miss/Miss St. in terms of the 2nd SEC school in a state. They're a small private school and UT's footprint is too large so taking control of the state is a pipe dream any way. There are simply too many UT grads and grads from other schools in the state including Vandy that are all Tennessee when it comes to football. However, they can be consistently good program.

The thinking being that the stadium is a dump and is long over due for renovations. Will be part of the plan to build the fan base.

Back to back 9 Win seasons at Vandy - your fanbase should be packing that stadium out. These are the best of times for a 'Dore fan.

This^^ and that is what Franklin expressed frustration at all season.

We did bring 35,000 to Birmingham for the bowl game. I dont know why we can't show the same dedication for home games

What does Vandy have coming back? These guys usually bolt if they can if they had a lot of seniors. If not, he could wait a year and try to get a job without the Penn State headaches without too much risk.

Keep in mind that he has won the last 2 years with recruiting classes ranked in the 70s. I hope we get to see what he can do with his recruiting classes ranked in the 20s. I don't see 9 wins next year but 2015 would be fun if CJF stays.

They return their top 2 running backs, but lose their top 2 receivers and best defensive player in Ladler. Carta-Samuels is graduating, and he was a steady hand at the QB position. Not sure how Grady or Robinette will fill in.

Didn't he have one class sandwiched between three of four others that was in the 20ish zone? I know you can't really do much with a one off class - you need 3 or 4 good classes but I think he had at least one good round. Also. Jordan Matthews - wow. He's one of those that don't come along to ANY program too often.

Vandy never should have been so low in the recruiting to start with, imo. You should've at least been in the 30-40s.

The 2 classes before he arrived were in the 70s, including this senior class. His last 2 classes have been ranked in the 20s.

He needs to make up his mind soon if he's going to leave. The longer this drags on the worse it will be if he does go. He owes y'all that much.

I just get a bad vibe from this dragging on so long. I remember how Kiffin totally fricked us over not by leaving but by the way he left - with no way to make a decent hire before signing day. The longer this goes the more likely one school is gonna get royally screwed when it didn't have to be that way. While I'm sure your AD is making backup plans that we never got a chance to make every day that passes makes it harder. You can make changes and hires the right way and timing really is everything.
