..it was on last night as i was flipping channels after the game.

i watched about 20 minutes and it was so cringe-worthy i had to turn it off. was the whole movie just as bad? picard was flying a spaceship down a hallway in the part i saw. so very very bad.

this is the what..10th installment in a movie series that brought us "the wrath of khan"?

if jj abrams hadn't taken over how bad would the latest movies be?

There would not have been any others with the TNG cast. In addition to the fact that this was a fricking disaster, everyone was looking old (including Data, which is hard to explain). Plus, Riker was getting so big that the other actors had started involuntarily revolving around him.

A reboot was inevitable because NO ONE was going to make movies based on DS9 or Voyager. Since the future was out of the question, you had to essentially start over.

The worst Star Trek movie, in my opinion.

Hard to beat TFF for worst, but Nemesis is close - of the Star Trek films that I recognize, anyway (and I shall refrain from derailing the thread.)

Nemesis

All of the TNG movies were bad, even the Borg one. TNG movies were a money grab from paramount, all of them simply extended TV episodes that I had to pay to watch.

First Contact was good, but I'd agree that the rest are somewhere near the bottom.

DS9 just doesn't lend itself well to a movie. tng was episodic, ds9 had arcs.

i like saying it in these threads, there are dozens of novels set after the shows went off the air and the stories are great and the universe of characters expands tenfold and the limitations of tv/movie don't matter...i.e.: death. ive got so much more important stuff i could be reading but im in the middle of a marathon of this pulp,

Nemesis is worst for the dumbest plot of all coupled with what happened to data and the lack of reaction from the crew.

Stewart is partially to blame for forcing a rewrite of the script.

They could have had a *SPOILER*

(return of the Emissary - story, and a new Gamma crisis)

However, it would have gone like a multi-episode story, rather than a feature film. Trek doesn't lend itself to feature films, anyway. Even the "trilogy" has TSFS in the middle which has really not aged well and TVH is fun and I enjoy it, but the only, true homerun of a Trek feature film was TWOK - and one of the best films of all time, on its own merits. I agree that First Contact was good - maybe even better than good, but the rest of the films were very uneven. I'm a fan and I enjoy every legitimate Star Trek movie, including TMP - however, the depth and breadth of the material simply lends itself to the episodic or arc format, on the small screen - this was true even prior to the tentpole/teen-oriented film era.

Did not like Nemisis. Thought Generations was the last good movie.

Generations may have actually been the last movie since everything that happened after was Picard in the Nexus.....or they could explain it that way if they chose to.

They would have to in order to bring real Kirk back one more time.

Felt like a shitty TNG episode. Same with that one with F. Murray Abraham as the villain.

Ace, I usually enjoy your posts, but all the abbreviations for the movie titles are driving me nuts! I've seen all the Star Trek movies multiple times (with the exception of the latest two, which I've only watched a couple of times), but your post made my brain hurt trying to remember all the titles. I got DS9 and TNG right away, but I had to go back and list the movie titles in my head to figure out the rest of what you were talking about.

(Sorry, maybe it's just a lack of sleep this week, or maybe I'm just not as big of a Star Trek geek as I've been accused of being! )

Was inserection the one with the Milf that was like 300 years old that wanted to bang Picard, and the face stretch fricktards? If so I liked that one the least.

I am truly sorry. I thought that the three letter convention (with The Wrath of Kahn - TWOK - and The Search for Spock - TSFS - being the only 4 letter exceptions, and First Contact - FC being the only 2 letter) was relatively accepted by the Trek community.

TOS

TAS

TNG

DS9

VOY

ENT

***

TMP

TWOK

TVH

TFF

TUC

GEN (sometimes GENS)

FC

INS

NEM
