Terry McAulay is the referee, who is in his 16th year and 13th as referee. This is McAulay’s 13th postseason assignment (2 wild card playoffs, 2 divisional playoffs, 7 conference championships, and Super Bowls XXXIX and XLIII).
LSU grad
Big east college officiating coordinator

Even though he is originally from Hammond, La. he has never done any favors for the Saints. His crew did the Saints-Bills game this year. That was 8 for 59yds Saints & 6 for 45yds Bills. He was the one that called those two consecutive false starts on Brees for his hand motion. dlP one holding call, Chas Brown one holding call, Jed one holding call, roughing the passer Corey White
His crew did Seattle@AZ and called the chickens 10 for 70yds- Best note on that is that they called 2 pass interference and 2 defensive holding calls on them, 3 in the 4th qtr

Good stuff, I like the officiating info.

Hate that it's the douche who called Brees for the false starts though...

It's more like a 90% chance of rain if we're being accurate here. With winds from 9-15 mph

Let there be no doubt that CSP and Brees will before game be discussing with him the motion/pre-snap. And of course the warm hugs our receivers will be getting all game from the amorous secondary of the seahags.

As a Little League ump I was always a little tighter on my son's team. Wanted it to be clear there was no favoritism. Wonder if anything like that would apply to a Louisiana native to the Saints?

Brees does push the QB movement inducing limits (like in Philly where Payton & he were smiling about it when penalized). The two consecutive calls on Brees vs. Buffalo seemed more like that kinda message to me. Even Brees commented afterwards that ya usually at least get a warning before penalization.

This. The best officials/umps always seem to be more critical of their "home" team in any sport. I know I always did it. These guys are professionals, and they call what they see despite what most fans believe. Believe it or not, they don't want to be wrong.

A big key to this game may end up being how much the Back, Side, and Field judges let the Seattle secondary get away with. If they allow a lot of physical play (which is what usually happens in postseason play) then that does not favor the Saints at all. Cracking the whip with a couple defensive holdings or PI's early could change the way the entire game plays out.

If you call it tighter on one side, you're favoring the other.

If you can't be impartial, you shouldn't be a ref. Of course, most of them are blind anyway.

We will be able to run the ball but not like we did against Philly.

Brees is gonna have to win this one if we are gonna march on

I'm 180* from most about the weather. With our strength being the front seven seems so strange to say that, and the injuries to our secondary I think the weather may help more than hurt. A heavy rain will effect both passing games and a dependence on the run for both teams may equalize our greatest weakness.

--- I like! Prolly can expect letting them play through more in the playoffs. Still, knowing this crew nailed them 4 times might reduce the muggings.

--- I've been thinking down this same avenue...
Game One, Ingram 8 carries, dunno if Robinson was even active
Last week, Ingram 18 & Robinson 8
This week, even if PT23 is back I'd love to see 20+ carries for Ingram & Robinson. Just do some pounding. Methinks a victory will be with a lot of 3rd and 3 or less yards.

Me either. The wind is going to enhance their secondary. Our receivers ned to come up with something to lose the shucks at the line of scrimmage, too.
