wasnt this supposed to be a main part of cam camerons offense? i didnt really see much of it, any more than in previous years. with dillon gordon, dickson, stokes, and freshman desean smith, i expected that to be a big part of our passing attack.
either cam cameron doesnt utilize tight ends like i thought, or jarvis and ob3 were good enough. what ya say rant

We will need to throw to them next year.

Iowa had a pick six off a TE pass. Jennings hit the TE in the Arky game as well. But obviously they seemed to be fine with landry and obj.

We had 2 1000yd WRs and people bitch about not throwing to the TEs.

they weren't really emphasized, but Mett never really threw to em. there were a few times TEs were running open, particularly up the seam if the safeties paid too much attn to the WRs, but he didn't look that way.
maybe they become a bigger part of the offense as time goes on.

Our only decent receiving tight end was a true freshman, unless you want to count Dickson. Gordon was a good blocker for us. Also, we had 2 1,000 yard WRs and ran the shite out of the ball. Look for more TE usage in the pass game next year with Desean having a year under his belt, adding in Washington and the departure of our 2 best WRs.

We need to complete fewer deep comebacks to WRs with 4.4 speed, and more 4 yard dump offs to slow white guys.

you can say that but gordon was our best receiving tight end this year

OJ Howard had 14 grabs for Bama this season as a freshman
I expect similar production from Desean Smith this season
as a point of reference, we completed 12 passes to TE this past season.

its not about having 2 1000 yrd receivers, its about implementing another threat in our offense.

Ugh. None of our TEs were viable threats. Do you even football?

not sure how you can determine best receiving TE when one guy had 6 catches and the other 5. but both showed they can catch. that diving catch Gordon made against Bama (after the ball almost got picked) was nice. good reaction and snag by the big man.

If our TEs are not a viable threat then Cam needs to get busy, they need to be for obvious reasons for somebody who footballs

The problem with LSU has been that are guys are typically too big and clumsy to be receiving threats. No disrespect to Dillon Gordon, but I think this guy could be an NFL OT with his size and ability to move. He is not a real receiving threat at tight end. Dickson is smallish and somewhat slow. We just do not get or go after those 6'4" plus guys who are lean at about 250 and can run and catch.

So he should just throw to our TEs regardless, even if they suck? Makes sense.
He can't just "get busy" and have our TEs magically be legitimate threats. Jesus.

fricking this. One of the best offenses we ever had and people complain about not utilizing the te's to make themselves sound football smart.

That is not what it's about.
The TE pass is generally a safe pass. The size of TEs generally provide for a greater margin of error for the QB.
It adds diversity to the offense, and is a good option for attacking a defense over the middle. The size, strength, and power of TEs also adds another dimension of physicality to an offense.
