That is literally the greatest thing I have ever read. It reminds me of when fans joke that they want Saban as DC and Belichick as OC, but McCombs is fricking serious.

I love how Gruden gets on tv and everyone loved him (I think he's great) and all the sudden he would win 10 championships at any college

All that perpetuated the Saban to Texas garbage need professional help.

No chance in hell NS was headed into all this political posturing and infighting.

I've never seen this McCombs guy, but I always picture him in my head with a ten gallon hat and a bolo tie.

I agree Gruden's name comes up for jobs every year like he is bill parcels. He won one superbowl with tony dungy's team and all the sudden he is great. I think he is awesome as an analyst but his coaching skills get better every year that he doesn't coach.

People remember Gruden for being better than he actually was.

Not far from the way he portrayed himself (when he was a little younger - I mean, he's had a good run but he's 86 years old).

Maybe a coordinator? Does this guy know anything at all about Strong?

Exactly. This is why I think Strong better win big out of the gate. If he has one or two mediocre seasons (which he probably will just based on having to have a couple of seasons to change the teams mentality), the big money boosters will do everything they can to force him out (and the AD as well probably).

I thought the politics at Bama were bad until Saban showed up, but UT's politics is on a whole other level.

I don't think Patterson gives a frick what the "big money boosters" think, which is probably a good thing for Texas. I'm liking Patterson more and more each day

Patterson better be darn sure he has Powers' backing then. Because up until the afternoon he finally relented and push Mack out, Powers definitely sided with McCombs and Joe Jamail on how the football program should be run.

"A position coach, maybe a coordinator"?

Now I see why Patterson didn't listen to his boosters for the hire.

It's because this McCombs guy is a fricking idiot.
