The Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office identified the victim of a fatal stabbing Saturday night in Metairie as 26-year-old Jessica Broussard.

Her assailant and reported boyfriend, 29-year-old Noah Scott, was fatally shot by the police after he ignored several orders to drop a knife he was holding.

Deputies were contacted at 10:25 p.m. by a neighbor in the 1300 block of Pier Avenue, who reported that a woman was lying on his front lawn, Sheriff's Office spokesman John Fortunato said.

Witnesses said Scott was seen chasing Broussard across the street from her home, 1342 Pier Ave. He caught up with her on the front lawn of a home directly across the street from the home Scott shared with his parents, officials said. "That's where he began to stab her repeatedly," Fortunato siad.

"After doing so, he walked back across the street to his residence," the spokesman said.

We were outside right after the Saints game and heard a ton fireworks and then a shite ton of sirens. We all assumed it JPSO trying to stop the fireworks, looks like we were very wrong.

My brother was in his class at bm as well. Also said he was a huge druggie. It must've been obvious.

That sounds about right. I remember him, too. I also grew up in that neighborhood, but I never really saw him outside of school and a few social settings early in high school. Supposedly he was present when a friend of mine from grammar school overdosed and died about six or seven years ago. I feel pretty terrible for his girlfriend and their family, but I can't say I have much remorse for ol' Noah.

Newell Normand was just on the WWL-TV news. He said that three JPs were at or just inside the front door. The cops reported that the perp asked them repeatedly to shoot him. So when he lunged at the deputies, they opened fire. No administrative leave needed because, per NN, they were doing their job.

The autopsy report says he had 29 gunshot wounds. I wonder how many rounds were fired...

He had just murdered his girlfriend. I have no problem with this.

I have no problem with the cops shooting (and killing) him either. Shooting him 29 times seems slightly excessive to me.
