So I'm waiting on a flight from Houston to Frankfurt thats delayed. Flight was supposed to depart at 640pm. The reason for the delay is the plane we are waiting on was delayed. Sounds reasonable... except the flight we are waiting on was supposed to arrive at 630pm.... How the hell are they planning on turning around a place in 10 fricking minutes in the base case? fricking mad cuz:
A) I didn't check before getting to the airport
B) They didn't send an alert that they'd be late until the boarding time
C) I'm likely going to miss my connecting flight in Frankfurt and be stuck their for 6 hrs waiting on the next connection...

If 6:30 is the scheduled arrival, actual arrival is more like 6-6:10.

They build in a lot of time, so you may make it. Actual flight usually a good bit quicker when comparing stated departure and arrival times.

Every airline ever does that.

Well maybe they usually send you an update but its the main reason I don't trust layovers shorter than an hour. My last few hour layovers in Atlanta resulting in me only having 20 minutes and running to the gate only to realize the next flight is also 30 minutes behind.

Maybe, but international flights typically starting boarding ~50 minutes before departure and these things take a while to download passangers.

United is always delayed. My brother flew out of IAH tonight to SLC and was delayed an hour. He was delayed even longer when he flew into IAH.

Ever since Continental merged with United, at least 3/4 of my flights have been delayed at least 15 minutes.

yeah this is what got me. My layover was a 2+ hrs in frankfurt and the delayed flight was only 70 minutes behind. So I couldn't figure out why it was going to depart 2+ hrs later. Then common sense kicked in. I'm going to write a strongly worded bitch letter to united. I do this pretty regularly with no meaningful response. Living in north houston I really don't have much of a choice. How awesome would it be if singapore air or emirates bought out united....

True, but the plane is probably coming from Frankfort, and international flights usually get in even earlier than domestic from a schedule perspective.

Although 10 min does seem short. That was probably the refreshed arrival time, not the original.

Was the current inbound aircraft ALWAYS the intended ship for this journey? Just curious. Any conclusion I would reach would be pure speculation.

I fly 70+ segments a year with United in and out of IAH and I'd say 2-4 of them are delayed. United sucks, but not because of delays.

Go look at the yearly ranking over global airlines. American based airlines NEVER are in the top 10 for anything.

i would like to compare international volume of flights

you can get halfway across the world in half a day and you are complaining about having to wait in an airport for a little while

get over yourself for a little while
