My dad used to tell a story about having to break ice to cross it one year and it got me curious.

The coldest winter I remember in LA was about 1983 or 1984.
I have no idea Decade, but can't imagine it icing over, but maybe.
In CenLa that year I remember trying to yo-yo on a little lake and couldn't get our 14' bateau with merc 20 to break the ice. Some little lake off of Paper Mill Road in Pineville.
Went to Cotile, and the it wasn't frozen.
Thanks for the stroll down mammory lane.

'84 and '89 were both tough. Had ice way out in Maurepas and the main canals into it were iced over. You could walk on the ice in the swamp
