January 6th. Not a big KC person but with a Haydels down the street I'll probably be eating more than normal.

Nope I haven't been in Catholic churches except for funerals, weddings, et al and the occasional Midnight mass on Christmas eve, I enjoy the music offered at them. I just do remember the dates involved with the canon law of dates to observe through the year.

And people sell them outside of those dates now which to me takes the joy out of it, when I was a kid it was a treat that could only be had for a specified amount of time

I did see Cochon had one and Domenica which looked interesting

There was somebody on WWL TV last week that shows King Cakes have gone full retard - Muffuletta king cakes and Crawfish king cakes will be out this year.

I like Ralph's king cakes because they don't overdo the filling they're not too messy. I can't say that I've ever been wowed by any king cake brand.

I am a simple man, and the king cakes I eat reflect that.

I prefer the filled ones. Rouse's usually works for me. Picked up an apple & cream cheese yesterday.

I ask your forgiveness while I go puke over the idea of a muff king cake. When Dorignacs irst opened the "new" bakery in the mid-eighties I was making about 1000 per day and it was just a traditional model along with a shitload of other things to produce. The arrival of Mardi Gras was a well and truly earned break from the hours(@ 16) each day that started with Thanksgiving and continued.
