Best Job Board and Job Search Strategies

Recently graduated and looking for a job. I've mainly been poring through Indeed and NACE Link and applying for anything that I may be remotely qualified for.
Is there anything else I could/should be doing? Networking and such will be difficult because I have to move out of the state for a job, but it's not possible for me to move without having one. I'm not really sure what I could do to help my resume tremendously in a short amount of time at this point.
Any advice from the knowledgeable money board will be greatly appreciated.

Field/position desired?
I would find some companies of interest and cold call trying to contact management/HR to discuss potential positions.

Finance/Accounting
Ideally, I would want to be an analyst or a variety of positions in the investments industry, but I'd take a staff accountant position, or just about any other job I thought would give me a solid footing to go somewhere with.
I have a BS Finance.

Also get the book 'Interview power'.
Good luck.

Where are you trying to move to?
Believe it or not, I found my job on Craigslist of all places. Most stuff on there is garbage, but if you have all day to look it certainly can't hurt.
My advice: I applied to hundreds of jobs out of state when I was graduating and didn't have much luck doing the traditional route, outside of a few opportunities. If you know where you want to work, do whatever you can to find someone there that can pass your resume along. Send linkedin messages, email, call etc. The worst thing you can hear is "no".
ETA: I think you're better off tailoring your resume and really hustling for 10 specific jobs instead of mass applying to 50. Of course you never know, but use your time wisely.

Trying to get a job in a SE city.
Atlanta, Jacksonville, Tampa, Orlando, Nashville would be most ideal.
I've also been applying heavy in Houston, Dallas, and Austin.
GF has 18 months left in Gainesville at law school, so getting closer to her would be nice, but not a necessity. She is willing to move, too
However, if I don't have something certain by March, she needs to decide where she is going to apply for the bar, so if I don't have something by then, my search will be relegated to one state. For that, it'll probably GA or TX, those are where the most job opportunities seem to be.
ETA: she can't bar in LA.

If you have any friends in those cities, you should consider listing their address on your resume. With the amount of jobless recent grads some companies aren't as willing to fly in entry level interviewees from all over the country unless you really stand out.

I don't really know anyone those cities though.
Plus if they wanted a quick interview in less than a week, that could prove to bite me in the arse. I guess I could probably use her address to at least put me somewhat closer.
I definitely dont really stand out, unfortunately. First couple of college were quite the dumpster fire. Leaving me with a GPA not impressive enough to list and no internships of merit. 2 huge killers. I do have some good campus leadership exp, but thats not much to make ip for the glaring flaws of the other two.

Move to Texas or join the military look like your only two options. Plenty of jobs out here, Florida not shite.

Out of curiosity, why can't she Bar in Louisiana?
Posted on 1/4/14 at 10:11 am to Joshjrn
She could, I think, but there is extra work. The whole civil law vs. common law deal. I don't know much about law, so I could be wrong.
Posted on 1/4/14 at 10:24 am to southernelite
It's certainly more work. I was just taken aback by "can't" instead of "won't"

Okay, I'll rephrase, she does't want to, and it's fine. There are many more opportunities elsewhere to be committing ourselves to LA.
Sorry for the confusion.

Just be aware that a position in Underwriting will have nothing to do w/ your finance degree. Just throwing that out there.
