Might trade it away. They have a good core already.

If they win today do they get the number 1 pick still?

Obrien might feel like he can make any QB into a good QB so thats the only way i see them passing on Bridgewater

I've only seen him play 3 games but I'm not sold on Bridgewater. He COULD be a very good NFL QB but he doesn't look like a "sure thing". You shouldn't spent #1 picks on players that aren't sure things.

I don't really think Clowney is a sure thing either but he's the closest there is in this draft. So either draft the best player available (Clowney) or trade down, don't reach.

There is no such thing as a SURE THING in the NFL

Surely they go QB. As to which, whoever emerges at the combine. Actual football doesn't matter anymore, it's all about what you do in Indy.

The Texans already have a pretty talented roster. Just need a QB. And Bridgewater isnt a #1 QB. No QB in this draft is a top 10 pick IMO.

They trade back to the mid - last 1st round. Get a bunch more picks for the next few years. Like 2 1st rounders, 2 2nd rounders, a 3rd, etc.

Get the best CB available in the 1st. Then take Mett in the late 2nd / early 3rd.

Plus, the Texans are looking for a new head coach. Having a lot of draft picks / having a talented roster are extremely appealing to coaches. And the Texans could possibly have both. They already have a talented roster. Just need a QB. And if they trade the #1 pick back they could be loaded up with draft picks for the next few years.

In order to trade down, someone would have to trade up. With the talent in this class, no one is going to do that unless the Texans take WAY less than what it would normally take to trade for the first pick.

This logic didn't take long to rear it's ugly head.

If there's no elite QB, what player will make another team give up multiple 1st and 2nd round picks to move up for?

Clowney.... Someone will give up a good bit to trade up and get him. Maybe not what they would get for a stud QB like Luck or whatever. But someone will still be willing to trade up and get him.

Who?

If it's someone just outside the top 4 picks, they would have to give up 2 1sts and probably a 2nd and 3rd round pick. I don't see anyone doing that for Clowney or anyone in this draft. A team in the mid to late 1st round would have to give up way too much.
