People don't enjoy getting raked over the coals by the school for mediocre bowls when they can buy better tickets from StubHub for $45.

If it was a BCS bowl or the National Championship you can bet the economically challenged would find a way to buy tickets. The fan base is spoiled and expects better than the Outback Bowl, that's all. There is plenty of money to fill in and account for fan turnover with the proper stimulus.

Wow. Very surprised. I wish I had the money to go because I would definitely buy 4 tickets to the Outback bowl

You answered your own statement or question. Traveling to Tampa requires discretionary funds. The economy is better than the past few yrs but I know several big Tiger Fans who are upper middle class level who just aren't going to spend the money this year... Not a down vote on the bowl - just have higher financial priorities. I think LSU will still have a nice crowd but not like usual.

Bowl games don't have the same appeal they once did. As LSU fans, we get a bowl game each year to start off the season when the game has more meaning. Let's be honest some teams have a want when they get to the bowl game and some could care less that they were there. AKA Alabama vs Utah, Florida vs Louisville. They're a product of our entertainment and I prefer to fork up the money to go to Houston to see LSU vs Wisconsin when LSU has something to play for.

I live in Houston. And the cheapest seats for the game versus Wisky are $130 each. That would cost me about $520 for a family of 4. I just don't know if I can swing that.

I'm going and I'm excited about it. If nothing else it is a chance to get the hell out of Baton Rouge and spend NYE in Tampa.

Never really thought of it like that, but I agree. I'm much more willing to pay for a trip for the opener than right after christmas. It means more anyway during the regular season.

Agreed on all points. Great way to look at it.

I'm lovin' this!

Last year I got tickets to the Chik-Fil-A bowl for 60 bucks on StubHub. Thus far, the tickets for this game are already down to $65 on StubHub.

I got a buddy who lives in Tampa so, all I'm having to do is buy airfare. Temperatures are expected to be in the high 70s to low 80s......................we might even hop over to the Under Armour game in St Pete the next day to watch Fournette, Noil, Willis, and Dupre commit to the Tigers!

It's the ECONOMY stupid! When you add up the cost of tkts, travel, hotel, food, alcohol etc...it's a pretty big sum that only a few can afford individually. A lot of those tickets get sold to corporations/business who can write them off for tax purposes. Increased cost for everything from food to education plus Christmas spending....there ain't that many folks who would spend that kind of money to go to a bowl game when you can watch it comfortably on HDTV!

Sorry, not dropping 2-3K to fly to Tampa for Iowa in a meaningless bowl game. Just not worth it.

- $3,000 to fly to Tampa? Lolz
- by the "meaningless" logic you won't go to any game but a BCS champ

500 x 4 = 2k
Tickets, food, lodging = easily 1k

Iowa blows, boring game. Not paying that much when I can watch at home in HD.
