Worth it ? Like it? I see there are no tone controls? Is that correct? How does that work? Looking at the acoustic wave.

I play all my music off a netbook and I want a fist class sounding rig to play it thru. Any other recommendations or am I going the right direction? I have an Alec Lansing sound dock now and my desktop speakers at work sounds better than that thing. Lows suck.

My Dad got one and it sounds frickin awesome. Im not sure if its an acoustic wave or not. All I know is I walked in his house while he was blaring some old 70s funk. He said "all of that sound is coming from that thing."

What is your budget? Bose, these days, is largely considered garbage in the pro space.

BOSE = Buy Other Sound Equipment.

Like a cheap receiver and a decent pair of bookshelf speakers.

1500 is my budget. It needs to fit on a desk with a netbook and not take the whole room up.

I've owned a wave radio for about 6 or 7 years. I love it. Definitely worth the $400 I paid. Not sure how much they are now. I think you can do slight adjustments in tone, but I haven't messed with the set up since the beginning.

People always talk trash about Bose for being overpriced and not compatible with other speakers, but then again people always talk trash about Apple products for the same stuff and Apple products are the highest quality around. All I know is everytime I hear a Bose sound system, especially the Waves, they sound great!

I have the little wave radio. Got it in 2006 and still use it. For what it is, I love it. I keep it on my nightstand most of the time but I'll bring it into the kitchen while cooking dinner too. It isn't near the quality of my main stereo setup BUT for the money it is pretty tough to beat.

I would take Sonos over the waves all day.

If you want something quality please don't with BOSE. You can do so much better with $1500. Something like this.

Small PreAmp

Small Amp

Those two components above cost $550 together and they won't take up much space. That leaves a hefty budget for desktop speakers. Please don't do BOSE.

I have a wave radio and the sound is awesome but we hardly use it anymore. And no there are no tone controls just volume. Mine doesn't even have buttons on it have to use remote.

This is the difference. Do you want a radio or a stereo system? I can buy a radio at walmart for $50.

You could buy a real Bose system with a sub, or one from anyone else for that matter.

Waves signs good compared to a clock radio.
