This really requires no response, but I have to vent fellas......even if it's a German vent.

I was over on the SEC Rant, and for some reason wound up looking at Western Division schedules, wins, losses, etc.....

HOW IN THE FRICK DID WE LET THIS TEAM BEAT US?!?!?!?!

They were 3 and 5 IN THE CONFERENCE!

We beat a team (handily I might ad) that's going to play for an NC. We DESTROYED a pretty good aTm team.

While I know LSU has suffered WAY worse losses, this one's about as puzzling as any I've ever seen.

I know, Germans, blah blah......

Thank you for reading my post, and thank you for letting me vent.

It was a completely unacceptable loss where the players and coaches were arrogant and assumed they could just sleep walk through the game.

Mett throws 3INT in the first half - all on the same route pattern. After the second one, maybe don't call that anymore, maybe don't throw it up for grabs?

Even sleep walking we were talented enough, but throw in abysmal coaching and the other team who can sleep soundly if they only beat LSU every year and you get the Ole Miss game.

Worst part is, it's almost every year that this happens. Miles needs to understand Ole Miss only cares about us.

It was towards the end of a string of games with no off week. It was after a tough physical Fla game. Ole Miss historically plays LSU very well. LSU made three pretty bad throws in that game when a check down option would have been better to move the ball in those situations when your receiver that was targeted was drawing 2/3 db's.
If not for the 3 picks, LSU wins by 2 tds.
It was a combination of LSU getting greedy on offense instead of taking the safer route and driving the ball down the field.

I find myself thinking this to myself all the time. It sucks, whatever.

It's almost like its a good that that it wasn't our only loss of the season. Could you imagine if we ran the table against the likes of Bama, Auburn, Georgia, TAMU, but lost to Ole Miss?

Now that would be the doomsday scenario I could not get over.

Some OM fans had a Mett voodoo doll.

They kept jerking its arm every time he passed.

LSU is good for a really shitty loss to Ole Miss once every four or five years.

This. Turned the ball over, our D couldn't get off the field and Ole Miss played a good game. Not sure why people are still so boggled by this one.

I was in Vaught-Hemingway and Ole Miss and their fans were as fired up as I've ever seen them to play a football game. They had just dropped three straight including an heartbreaker to A&M and they wanted this game more than we did.

Excitement and desire doesn't always translate to a victory but in this case it didn't hurt especially when combined with LSU's turnovers.

if we did that, we would have won the SEC, assuming everything else was the same

It was just a freak occurrence that happens sometimes. If we played Ole Miss 10 times, I would say the Tigers would win 9 out of 10. Regrettably, for whatever reason (and the reasons truly don't matter at this point), they caught us on that off day that allowed them to pull off the win. I don't want to sound cliche, but in this case, the cliches seem appropriate...
- that's why they play the game.
- any given team can win any given Sat, etc.
- full moon in Oxford that night.

Whatever. Happens to many teams. UF shouldn't have lost to Ga. Southern this year... and if they played them again, probably wouldn't. Michigan shouldn't have lost to App. St. a couple years ago, and probably wouldn't have lost if they had a rematch the next week. Bama shouldn't have lost to Utah a few years back.

It was a bad loss. A few bad plays erased points for the board and led to LSU having to play the 2nd half down three scores (17pts if I remember correct?). To LSU's credit, they started playing tighter in the 2nd half instead of giving up and they came pretty close to coming back to win. Of course, it shouldn't have had to come down to that, but it is what it is, and there's really nothing to gain by re-hashing it. My opinion, of course.

Aren't you the middle aged guy whose family doesn't want to watch games because you throw bottles, yell and are miserable in general? It's been months since that game.

I suppose it's like this in ALOT of years when you're perennially a 9/10/11 win team, but look at this year's losses......

The Georgia came for sure could have gone either way. We got them when they were relatively healthy, and in their house. I really thought we were going to pull that one out.....

Ole Miss loss - we got beat by an inferior team because ZM played by far his worst game as a Tiger.

Alabama had a better football team than us. I think if those two rosters met 10 times, Bama wins 8 of them at least.
