My post from a few days after the game which think sums it up and still resonates true:

While we are all stewing over this fiasco just a review on the historical side of the series:
Since I have been alive from the 1956 season to present we have 33W, 23L & 3T for a 56%W us, 39%W OM & 5%T. The decades breakdown is as such (us OM):
56-60's 4W 9L 2T
70's 8W 2L
80's 7W 2L 1T
90's 4W 6L
2000's 10W 4L
Games of note these:
Of course 59 B. Cannon & Co. drives a dagger through them ruining their perfect season and they return the dagger in 60 SB
60 they were undefeated & we came into Oxford with a 1-4 team and ruined their perfect season (10-0-1)
61 they again undefeated we W 10-7
64 D Moreau 2 pt conversion at the buzzer W 11-10
69 Arch give us only L 23-26 that put dagger to me
72 Last play W to B Davis 17-16
86 Inexplicable L 19-21 in TS the dagger back to us
90's Nothing very, they W 60%
2003 Their only shot at SECCG with Eli we stick the Dagger back in Oxford 17-14
2006 The great JR and co. struggle to 23-20W OT in TS
2012 We come back on ODB Jr. Cannonesque punt return the dagger to them
2013 Uggh!
The point this is over my lifetime OM and LSU have stuck the dagger in each other in heartbreak and is just the way football goes.
That said, no excuse for coming out flat Sat. with everything to play for and this on CLM as he addmitted; also he did not throw the 3 picks, this on ZM, and of course niether play defense so was a bad effort all around.
I say lets put this behind and get behind them for this stretch run for maybe a decent bowl matchup.
They will come out fired up the remaining games so lets
!!

This is very simple, LSU played like shite. I couldn't believe we played that bad against O"L PISS!!! Maybe next year.

I was there and did not want to be, so I can imagine the team felt the same way I did

Even as bad as LSU played and the way Ole Miss played as this was their Super Bowl, if felt good knowing they needed a last second FG to win the game.

If we win this game, we are still in Tampa on January 1

It was the last game before the first bye week. The team was clearly tired and played poorly that night.

LSU had avery difficult schedule this year and it just stacked up such that the Ole' Miss game was the trap game.

The secondary at Ole Miss is outstanding though, and some of us had concerns after the Florida game.

This. Turned the ball over, our D couldn't get off the field and Ole Miss played a good game. Not sure why people are still so boggled by this one.

Its boggling Ole Miss was able to do those things in the first place

I find myself thinking this to myself all the time. It sucks, whatever. It's almost like its a good that that it wasn't our only loss of the season. Could you imagine if we ran the table against the likes of Bama, Auburn, Georgia, TAMU, but lost to Ole Miss? Now that would be the doomsday scenario I could not get over.
I disagree since we would have been playing in the SECCG in that scenario.

It's college football. It's a bigger rival game for them. We had won 3 in a row. It's college football and upsets happen all the time. They are an SEC school and have some SEC athletes. We had 3 turnovers and their QB played great. That's how they beat us. Guess what....they will beat us again when we are favored over them. It happens.

Show me a team that doesnt have that "how did we lose to them" game. Include Auburn in that list.
it happens to every team and no we shouldn't have lost to that team and people have the right to bitch about it...but for some reason our fans think its only clm and the tigers that lose those type of games....

HOW IN THE FRICK DID WE LET THIS TEAM BEAT US?!?!?!?!

They were 3 and 5 IN THE CONFERENCE!

We beat a team (handily I might ad) that's going to play for an NC. We DESTROYED a pretty good aTm team.

While I know LSU has suffered WAY worse losses, this one's about as puzzling as any I've ever seen.

shite happens everytime a pathetic excuse making cheerleader sits down at the computer. The real authentic losers are the ones that accept losses to inferior teams as "fine and acceptable." ("That's Ok.We'll be Fine") shite happens when the head coach and staff fail to have the team properly prepared and motivated to play. Ole Miss shoudn't have come within three TD's of LSU. Yep, shite happens, and when it does you can bet your sweet arse a "MA" real loser will be there making excuses for the negligence.

First when you lack the regular vaunted defense, but have a high-scoring offense why always kick off and give the other team the chance to make you play from behind. Playing from behind gets in your head and was the major beef of the 07 team that had to pull out many last second miracles - Hester said that got old and wearing. Okay. Mett went into this game with just 2 int, top ranked passer in the SEC, w/gimp knee and taking sacks like a sitting duck. His stats had been extremely padded by throwing daredevil passes into tight coverage to the two best receivers in the SEC. If not for the skill of Beckham and Landry to make circus catches and avoid season ending injury the Mett train would have no track. So Mett comes in with announcers hyping how NFL scouts ooh and ahh over his pinpoint precision rather than poor decision making and throwing the ball around to totally wide open receivers not double/triple covered or named B&L. To top it off Ole Miss was missing 5 starters. OM just kept double/triple covering and Mett kept throwing ints ala Jarrett Lee. If Miles had followed his policy of benching backs who fumble and benched Mett or gone to the running game it would have been different. At half time Miles left the field piqued about forcing the home run rather taking something underneath like every Pop Warner team does. The Jennings to Dural in the AR game may have been the best pass play all year as it did not endanger the receiver's life or threaten to disable him by being crushed in double coverage. LSU had the 2nd toughest SOS in the SEC, were at the end of a 7 game gauntlet with the last 5 being Auburn, Georgia, Miss, Florida, OM. These comments could apply to all LSU losses this yr. with one major addendum why was Concussion Copeland allowed on the field for the first time in the BAMA game with a walk-in touchdown that Hill or McGhee should have carried? Demoralizing 'kick yourself' game changer with gimp knee Mett running away from the scrum for the fumble...no honor in that. Forget Mett, his ego was stronger than his arm and an immobile QB in this division, totally not able to sidestep his own guys and afraid to scramble for his own fumble because his stats or draft stock might tumble, he was solely responsible for the loss.

The Tide had the weakest SEC schedule in 2013, ARK & LSU the toughest. LSU's schedules have been so difficult, there are only eleven national teams who played a schedule ranked higher than LSU in the five seasons ending in 2012. The last time LSU won the NC in 2007 was the last time they did not have a top 5 SOS. They had the hardest SOS in the nation/BCS era in 2011 when they went 13-0. It's pretty simple, it's harder to win games when you play tougher opponents, and LSU has consistently played more tough games than anyone else in the country. Alabama's most difficult schedule in the past 6 years was not ranked as highly as LSU's easiest schedule.
