I've never seen anything like it and I figured the board might appreciate it. LINK

I've never see this particular video, but what you have there is a red tide. One day I hope to witness on on the hoof.

I've never seen that either.
One time though, we were in Big Lake, running wide open across the lake, and guide shuts the boat down, and said "huge school of reds in front of us, lawd, dey movin fas".
I NEVER saw them.....he said "luh, jus trow rite dere", and pointed. all 4 of us hooked up on 29 inch or so reds. Some got landed, some broke off, etc.
He'd pull his binoculars out, find them again, and off we'd go.
I'm telling y'all, NONE of US could see them. He'd just point and tell us where to "trow".
It would take 5-10 minutes for all of us to land the fish, so he'd have to find them again every time.
We caught up to them 3 or 4 times, caught about 10-12 reds, and spent about 1.5 hours of our time with him chasing those suckers.
Same guide (was one of the young dude's that fished w/the Poe's), next day, asked us if we wanted to catch alot of trout, or big trout. We all said big. Takes us to this place that he said, "y'all, luh, dis reef is teenincy, but if dere's a fish here, he's big yeah".
Stayed there ALL DAY. 4 of us only put about 35 trout in the box, but the ONE small fish we had was 19 inches. Prettiest box of trout I've ever seen. Every time we'd be about ready to leave, BOOM, big 4-5 pound trout.

I have seen this while on the Point at Cape Hatteras when I was in college.
They called it the Drum Run of the Century.
Trucks came out of nowhere when the word got out.
It looked like an oil spill out there and guys were catching citations left and right.
It was amazing and I was glad to be a part of it.

I've seen it before out of grand isle
Not nearly this many but 5 people in the boat And we all landed and released monster reds
The water was dirtier than this video but you could still see some swimming under the boat and then they would all a sudden start blowingggg up the top of the water
It was amazing

happened to us in front of the grand isle state park last summer. it probably wasn't a huge school but the water looked like it was boiling where they were feeding. one of the coolest sights ever

I've seen it once, about 2 miles south of East Timbalier. The water was whitecapping on a calm day and I thought it must be rocks. It was a huge school of reds. My FIL and I had 6 rods rigged up when we got to them. 10 minutes later we had no usable rods left, though we had boated two.
That was 25 years ago and my FIL and I still talk about it.

saw this last two novembers ago out of grand isle. about 200 yards outside of gorillaville. I was alone and in a 15 foot eliminator bass boat. School was probably 100 yards wide by 200 yards long. Stayed with them for about 45 minutes. Had 4 rods rigged for trout. Eventually broke off on all 4 rods but landed 3. All of 33 inches. I was on my bow in the seat working the trolling motor chasing them once I got one hooked. Some guys nearby that were on their way out deep water sat there and laughed and watched me for a while.
AFter that I went to Coupe Abel and limited out on 16 inch trout. STill best day ever in GI.
