Thought some of you might be interested in this.

Pretty good read. Particularly if you enjoy the intricacies of the game and what takes place on the field that fans don't hear or usually see.

This is a recent article by one of the receivers that was on the field during the final drive and game winning play.

Was that play the biggest in Iowa football history?

Not sure how you can say it wasn't his fault. I agree about the formation but we were in a man-to-man set and he ran a zone leaving his receiver open.

I know!

We were blitzing off the edge like crazy on the last drive.

Nothing like the Mustang D we play now...

They've only won the Big Ten once since then, leading to an Orange Bowl win over Georgia Tech.

That's about it. It was pretty nice watching them go 7-5 the next season, too.

Because they had two timeouts and a field goal would beat us. A ten yard completion would have beaten LSU as well, if Ferentz wasn't a fricking clock management idiot.

Second most brutal game I've ever attended as an LSU fan as it was my last game as a student. No need to mention the worst one.

No. Not the biggest play. Ask about Rob Houghtlin or Chuck Long's boot leg. But it is a big one.

Certainly in the top 10 all time finishes in bowl history. So there is that.

There aren't many Jan 1 bowl games between 2 great teams that have 2 scores in the last minute and the game winner takes place as the clock is running out and time expires during the play....

I guess it makes me feel better somehow that that win seems to be a big game in Iowa history. Saban certainly didn't give two shits about it at the time.

That would have put the ball at the LSU 46. Since their K wasn't Justin Tucker they're not in FG range. They snapped the ball with 9 seconds left so at most they're running 1 more play, their TOs weren't a huge factor.

Yeah...seeing as though every team in the country would count one of the top 10 bowl game endings in HISTORY (might be top 5)as a "big game".
