Why isn't Texas looking at Rex Ryan as a coaching candidate?

Rex is an excellent x's and o's guy and imagine how good he would be on the recruiting trail. He also has a good amount of college experience (4 years as Division I DC, 10+ years as college coach). And I think he's pretty attainable too. It's only a matter of time before Geno gets him fired. I think that would be a great hire for them.

I think their minimum requirement is some combination of 3 Super Bowls and 5 NC's right now.

Hell I figured they would dig up Bear Bryant and try to talk him into the job.

Damn what a delusional fan base.

college isn't the NFL where you can get away with being weird just as long as you win... at a place like TX, you're just as much a politician as you are football coach.

Normally I'd disagree about an NFL coach, but Rex is a fantastic defensive mind, and I think he'd be a hell of a recruiter.

Honestly, I think he'd be a great fit at LSU if/when Miles ever leaves.

Won't work....Alabama just signed him to a long-term contract extension.

Saving a guy who is about to be fired from the NFL would not fit into the whole "Texas is the best job in worldwide sports" line they are pushing.

You can have him at Arkansas when Bert is fired.

I was thinking at this point that we should just use our non-Vatican money to resurrect DKR and have him coach again. I mean... We're Texas... we can do that right???

No Ryan is meant for college football. Those guys are all NFL coaches and very good ones at that.

I've heard he actually hasn't signed. It's been sitting on his desk for the past 31 years.
