The ending of Titanic really bothers the crap out of me (Obvious Spoilers)

Just ended on A&E. So Bill Paxton has spend years and tons of money looking for this diamond but old Rose is just like "frick it. I'm gonna throw this bad boy in the river cause my heart is a deep ocean blah fricking blah." She could have easily just given him the diamond and it's a win-win.
Am I missing something or does this ending not bother anyone else?
FWIW, I very much enjoy the movie and story and this is the only thing that actually bothers me about the movie.

Not even gonna touch this one. Jack is pretty stupid for not saying, "Hey can you scoot over a bit so I don't freeze to death."
I guess it wouldn't have been such a good movie if they ended up together and every thing worked out logically so whatever.

They actually shot the final scene where she does give it to him and it's fricking awful. It ended the way it should have.

That, and the fact that Rose blatantly disregards decades of family, wealth, and happiness over that one time she fricked a bum in the back of a car. Rose was just all in all a horrible person.

And Cal had it going on back in the day. I don't see why he thought so much of Rose. She's an OT 5 at best. Dude was 30, heir to a steel empire, he could have found better looking with a better attitude easily.

I think he did try getting on the plank in the movie but it was unbalanced and he almost topples it over. I'm pretty sure if you were freezing to death you wouldn't have the frame of mind to find the center of balance on the plank.

John Noxon from Varsity blues is worse.
Moxon doesn't pay attention during practice, is instead reading a book. Says frick you coach by running his own offense during practice(oop dee oop offense). His best friend tears his knee up and he nearly hooks up with his GF, while he was dating his Best friend'a sister. Lol. His dad sees that he is talented at football and wants him to care more about it, Moxon says frick you Dad. Before the big game against Gilmer he takes every playermaker on offense out to a strip club, don't come home til 9 am in the morning.
I could go on.

Even the prop guy has owned up to the fact he made it too damn big. Fracking fat albert and his gang could have survived on that life raft.
