This is stupid. High placed people from Texas were leaking information all over. Why call out Chicken, TheDoc, and others when they were reporting what they were told.

I've been on this site a long time. I've never seen Chicken run with a story unless there was really something to it. I think there really was something to this and powerful people were taking. Why not say what you are hearing. Just because it doesn't fit the Alabama story doesn't mean that everyone is a bunch of liars.

It really is possible for both sides to be right here. Bama
Fans trying to make everyone else eat crow when there really was something to this is expected, but getting old.

The real group to laugh at here is Texas. In that, I think we can all agree.

Hail, the Coaching Changes Board! Epic, as usual!

Because some of us have followed texas long enough and told some of those (TheDoc) they were wrong and not to believe their sources, and yet they kept on with it.

He's not followed texas long, its ok, just trust some of us when we say you are being bullshitted to.

There was a day and time when people did not run with rumors unless they were absolutely sure they were true.

The world as it is now, anyone with a computer can put something out and there is a lot of pressure for the sites to get something out there fast ahead of the others, particularly pay sites.

Doesn't make it right it's just how it is. And these circumstances cause what we have just seen.

My source is on the UT side...I never said that Nick was definitely leaving Alabama... I think I am in the clear!

My take on this whole ordeal is that UT boosters were acting without the authority of the admin and many UT fans wanted to believe it and they convinced themselves it was happening. A&M leaving coupled with their early success has pushed the UT faithful to the edge.

Those persons quoting their "inside" info were only passing along information the UT faithful believed to be true. Only problem was the UT administration was not on board.

True. You said what UT was doing and they were doing it. It didn't work and all fell apart.

This stuff happens every year. Follow coaching changes enough and you learn to take it all with a grain of salt because anything can change.

It is like recruiting. Anyone expecting 100% accuracy needs to get into predicting political elections or the weather.

Oh, wait . . .

Just my opinion but all this loose info was part of the attempt to oust Mack Brown.

"We are getting Nick Saban!" Put this out there and the pressure mounts ten fold for Brown to resign and or the powers that be to run him off.

Bingo. And why would Brown want stay with all those knives stuck in his back? I'd leave.

I don't disagree. Four weeks into the season it looked like sure deal that Mack would be fired. Only problem was he got things turned around and almost won the conference.

Nick was the number 1 guy from day 1. After nick, it's Meyer, harbaugh, Tomlin, fisher in some order.

UT is confident that one big fish will bite on a big money offer, assuming Mack leaves!

Still much drama to play out!

Three reasons:

1) $
2) $$
3) $$$

He gets paid if he is the coach next year or gets paid less than that if they fire him. If he quits with no agreement, he gets no $. For the $5 million they are paying him, I could probably put up with a few knives.

I definitely don't blame Chicken. I'm sure this story drove some serious page views, so I understand him pushing it along.

They can have all the want in the world but who in their right mind would want to coach there after this debacle? Sure, they have plenty of money to throw around but lets face it, that place is a dumpster fire of epic proportions at the moment.

Texas and their boosters either purposely leaked info, or they just talked to the wrong folks that couldn't keep quiet...and they essentially tried to shame Mack into walking away to create the job opening. Orangebloods.com and the other UT fan outlets were so eager to move beyond Mack that they accepted rumor and innuendo as fact, which in turn helped fuel the mainstream media and blew the story up to immense proportions.

Unfortunately for Texas, the shitshow that is their athletic department and booster structure has been exposed and will cause them problems in hiring the next coach.
