In line with the other "old recuitnik" asking for an update, can some of you recruiting-know-it-alls also give an update on how are overall #'s look this year. How many spots are still open, projected as taken, held for top guys, etc. etc. Is there any danger missing out on some of these BIG TIME guys due to worrying about #'s?

I seem to remember the NCAA enacting some new rules a year or 2 ago related to gray-shirting, but I don't know how it all works and how many we can really sign. Or how much room we have this year based on the total 85? I guess that also depends on how many JR's leave, correct?

I really appreciate the info provided here for us who are less in the know.

In the past, one of the most informative posts I have seen here was one where some recruitnik would keep these #'s posted. TOTAL # of recruits we could take, and # committed versus wants & needs per position.

Nice. Brazil gives us an extra spot. Are we looking at any punters? The only consistent thing re ours is his one shank a game.

Les will probably give a scholarship to a walk-on senior or two. I was pretty sure that we would only sign 24-25 earlier in the year. Looking like it will be 26.

The max number is dependent on the interpretation and implementation of the rules in the SEC. A conservative interpretation that I think is correct is 25. The liberal interpretation would put the max at 27.

Barring some unpredictable change, this is where I'm at.

Brazil doesn't give us an extra spot anymore more than someone else transferring. Attrition is attrition regarding the 85. He already signed last year, so we can't count back his spot

We'll probably sign 25-27.

There was speculation once that we wouldn't be able to even get 25. I think we can now, and the staff is planning on taking a full 25.

Where it gets interesting if we'll be able to get Paris and Harris in as "freebies" since they signed before december. Might be able to go over 25 if everything works out.

It's 2013. They're backcounters...IF there's room for them in that class.

I have seen some of the projections of 27, but the actual recruits on the board don't add up to that for me, so I am sticking with 25 for now.

ANY chance at all that Cam Rob and/or Hootie jump back over to the P&G if the anticipated flood of ELITE prospects commit to LSU?

On CR, I'd say no - he's pretty much burned that bridge. On Hootie, who knows - he's much less vocal & harder to read.
