Teague's New Falconry/Hawking Thread

I guess I will start another one of these for this year, since a few of you seem to enjoy it, and I'm often bored at work.
I released my red tail from last year in order to concentrate on a Cooper's hawk this year. Well, that was short lived, as the Cooper's didn't work out. So, I trapped a new red tail in early November. All of this has used up about 2 months of my season, with little to show for it, but the new bird has trained quickly and is starting to understand the game now.
For those of you that didn't see my thread last year many questions are answered here: Last Year's Falconry Thread
Ava's first kill.

I'd rather shoot pictured squirrels and rabbit, to each his own though. Bad arse bird!

I've said it before. This is the most impressive thing on this board. Any fat drunk can sit in a box and shoot shite. What you are doing is bad assery.
ETA: What happened with the Cooper's? Just a shite bird?

How did you get into this
I came across some info/videos on the internet a few years ago and started researching. I found someone near me and went out with him to see what it was like.
Also, I assume my youtube link isn't working? It's blocked at work, so I can't tell if I posted it right.

Yeah, some of them are just better suited to this than others. Cooper's are notoriously difficult to start with, and this individual just didn't want to respond well without me starving her completely to death. So, basically, I took her out anyway, eventually, just hoping she'd train in the field. But, I ended up losing her, which I half expected.

You should link your other thread in the OP.

I feed them what they catch. You can also buy frozen rats and quail if you don't catch enough game or shoot the squirrels out of your pecan tree with a Ruger Blackhawk air rifle.
We eat the occasional rabbit, but most go in the freezer for the bird.

This shite is so awesome! Please don't ever take a picture with him and NOT post it. Truly remarkable stuff here.

are they "tame" enough for a stranger and or your kids to pet them?

I am truly fascinated every time I see your falconry threads.
