Do you think Saban SHOULD go to Texas?

Not whether or not he will, but SHOULD he?
While I do not think Saban goes to Texas, he really friggin should. Its a no-brainer.
Texas:
- In Austin, widely considered one of the best cities in the country. Has Lake Travis and Lake Austin, a great academic institution, and a great economy. It is filled with awesome music, restaurants, and beautiful neighborhoods/homes.
- Most fertile recruiting ground in the country. Saban could spend half as much time on the recruiting trail and have monster classes all but locked up 8 months before signing day every year.
- Unlimited resources. Bama has great facilities, but Texas has unlimited money to “one-up” anything and everything other programs do.
- Less pressure. This is the biggest one to me. He could easily win 10 games a year at Texas in the Big 12 with that talent and keep that fanbase happy as clams.
- And of course, they could pay him just ludicrous amounts of money to become first coach ever to win a Natty at 3 schools and not even blink. They could back a brinks truck up to his house.
Bama:
- Tuscaloosa, while fun as hell for college students and possessing a very pretty campus, is a fricking dump outside of the campus. It’s not like Saban parties at frat houses and Gallette’s.
- Has to battle several other top SEC schools for recruits and has to leave the state for a large amount of recruits. This is VERY time consuming.
- Unrealistic fanbase that puts enormous pressure on Nick to win every game. Those fans are some of the most loathed in sports. They are redneck trash and you know Saban has to hate that shite.
The only thing stopping him in my eyes is the thought of rebuilding another program and the effort it takes. However, let’s think about that for a minute. Nothing in Texas football needs to be rebuilt. They have continuously recruited well and have absolutely top notch facilities. Only thing he’d need to do is implement his scheme/process. Its not like he would be inheriting Tennessee post-Dooley or LSU post-Hallman or something like that.

Austin > the rest
Austin > the rest

Natty's at three different schools would be an impressive stat.

Thats what I thought at first, but he would inherit the throne to another empire with better perks at Texas.
They are loaded with talent and have top notch facilities. Unlimited talent surrounding them and unlimited budgets.

Would solidify him as #1 all time college coach IMO.

If he wants to keep up with Urban Meyer he should. Already been discussed that Urban is first coach to take 3 different teams to BCS bowl games. Saban can be first to WIN 3 NC with 3 different schools - which I think he would do in 3 yrs or less.

No.....but if that's what he wants to do and he has 5 or so more years in him go for it champ

Depends how long he wants to coach. If he only wants to coach 1 - 3 yrs he should stay in Tuscaloosa.
If he can do at least 4 I think he should go. He would have an easier path to get in the top 4 of the playoff. Texas has more money and even better access to recruits. Austin and Tx are 1000 times better to live in than Tuscaloosa and Bama. Saban enjoys building more than maintaining and would have that at UT.
Neither decision would suprise me at this point.

I think the pressure would be equally great at UT. The ONLY reason to hire him is to win Natty's. Anything less is a failure.

the man is in his early/mid 60s... what does he care how cool Austin is compared to Tuscaloosa?...

I didn't say cool. Its more suited for older folk as well. Lake houses and great restaurants.
Tuscaloosa is made for college students and thats it. The rest is a shithole.

There's not really anything to be gained by going. Bama can match the money Texas could offer him. He's already built it into a juggernaut both on the field and in recruiting. He gets EVERYTHING he wants when he wants it.
Plus there are a few advantages at Bama that he won't have at Texas that mean more to him than a few extra bucks.
People stay out of his way.
The BOT has learned to just keep writing checks and let HIM run the football end.
No LHN, this is a big bonus because he hates those types of things.
Bama keeps his elbow rubbing and smoozing to a minimum.
There are other reasons, but there's just not any advantage to leaving. Sorry LSU and Horn fans.

While I would love him to leave to laugh at Bama fans, I really won't lose sleep over it.
Just bored at work so I felt like procrastinating on here.

i think this point is useless, considering Saban pretty much hates people

Terry doesn't though and he has to eat, right?
Or is he bionic?

I just don't see the city of Austin playing any role at all in a potential decision... the man can retire and live any number of places and have houses everywhere if he likes.
for saban, it's all about the job... bottom line.

You're missing half the equation. Terry.
Austin is an incredible place. Tuscaloosa is an absolute shithole. And he isn't retiring yet.
