Surely he has to be ready to get his own gig.

Will he be a failure like Muschamp? Everyone knows it's Saban's D...

He will probably stay to be Dabo's DC.

probably not. Totally different coach, totally different person, totally different situation going in.

I've said it before I'll say it again

He's by far the most prepared of ANY Saban disciple and he's at Bama at the tail end of Saban's career so he has had the most hands on with any coach Saban has mentored just by delegation

It's not at all Saban's D we ran a totally different scheme under Steele before Kirby

Smart isn't worth the risk. Why risk everything that Saban's built on a guy with zero experience? He honestly doesn't strike me as being head coach material either...reminds me too much of Muschamp and Dabo Swinney.

I could be 100% wrong, and if he ever is Bama's HC I will support him totally, but I'd prefer someone who I've seen do more with less, that's young, and can recruit: James Franklin.

James Franklin can be more of a clown than Muschamp.

My ideal candidate would be David Shaw, but he ain't leavin' Stanford unless it's for the NFL, IMO

Vandy has been to 3 straight bowls and might win 9 games 2 years in a row. Guy is a great coach. Reminds me of what Spurrier did at Duke before he was at UF.

Could Kirby Smart do the exact same thing at Vanderbilt? If so, I'll take em.
