I don't get the love for Franklin. How many teams with winning records has he beaten the last two years?

Vandy has scared the hell out of much more talented teams for the past 3 years, and upset 8-4 UGA, and beat Ole Miss and NC State last year. Not to mention beating Tennessee and keeping them out of a bowl game 2 years in a row. Franklin has done more with less at Vanderbilt, in the SEC, with limited resources. Watch what happens to Vandy when he leaves.

Hell yes, but since he's been excommunicated from the SEC you won't see a gump bring him up.

That same UGA team beat the brakes off of them the year before And should have won this year if not for some major help from the refs. Everyone talks about 9 wins but when you only beat one or two teams with a winning record it doesn't seem all that Big.

I would agree...if it wasn't Vanderbilt, the perennial doormat of the SEC. And it doesn't matter how it's happened, Vandy has still won against some good teams, with less talent. That is a sign of good coaching.

And actually last year they started 2-4, but finished the year 9-4. That's also a sign of good coaching: improving as the year goes on.

Truth is you never know who's ready until they actually have the reigns. That's why big programs tend to like a guy with some success as a HC.

Kirbs could win the East at Vandy...not bad talent on that team

I only say that because a lot of stuff happens behind the curtain that everyone assumes is Saban and most of it is in reality delegated to Kirby, even decisions on staff, making decisions on recruits

I could give you examples on all these fronts and more. He's far more prepared than even Jimbo was

The last time Vandy had back to back winning seasons was 1974/1975. From 1975 to 2010, Vandy had 2 winning seasons. Let me say that again, 35 years...2 winning seasons!

Franklin was hired in 2011 and has made a bowl game in each of his first 3 seasons. Prior to Franklin, Vandy had been to 4 bowl games. Franklin is one season and one bowl game away from achieving in 4 years what it took the Vandy program 120 years to accumulate.

I don't mean to be rude, but your statement is ignorant. James Franklin has proven he can win in the toughest conference in the country at a school with the highest academic requirements and zero fan support. A school not one single person has ever been able to win at. He is 15-5 in his last 20 games.

just my opinion, but franklin has a ways to go before he's ready to handle the scrutiny of a major program... he comes across as immature in the way he deals with the media.

I lot of the things he does no one hears about b/c he's at vandy.
