How many years would it take for Saban to turn Texas around and be a contender?

I think considering how weak that conference is coupled with the amazing recruiting location and resources, it would only take a year or two. With the playoff system in effect next year, you only have to be the 4th best team in the nation to get a shot.

Considering their current talent? They would be in the CFB F4 within 2 years, maybe next year.

They have enough talent for him to make a run in the big 12. Playoff gives you two more spots, so probably the same year.

Could do it right from the start but no more than 3 years and he would be in the championship game.

He could do it in his first season. The longhorns are stacked with talent, they just lack coaching.

Any coach is going to be hamstrung by our QB "talent" if David Ash has to give up football because of the concussions. And even if he doesn't, he's one hit away from it.

The 2014 Texas coach, hell, even if that's Mack (which it won't be), needs to go find a good Juco QB pronto.

All Saban needs is a game manager at QB.

He would win with a running game and defense.

They're going to have to find a QB.

David Ash has hurt his head one too many times, he may never play another down of football.

Cart McCry's brother eligibility is up.

Burned Swoope's redshirt this year. Maybe he is the answer?

Burned Overstreet's redshirt this year. Converted him to RB.

He'd probably have a little struggle rebuilding the defense to his specs - and he'd need a QB, badly, but 3 years would be my best estimate - I could easily see that. It would be tough to beat him the last 6 or 7 years of a 10-year contract, with that 2 or 3 game schedule they play. Certainly in the playoffs every year.

A third school to win a championship, a 9-figure contract - there is almost too much for him to walk away from - which is why I think it happens.

My thoughts as well.

Saban believes he deserves something better than that in-bred fanbase who kill people for not caring enough after a loss.

It would take him about 12 months to get them to the playoffs if he were hired now.

They are still able to win the Big 12 title THIS YEAR. So... one day. Texas would be a contender the second the season starts, regardless of who is coaching there.
