I love those guys. They have a great show on the Esquire network where they travel around the U.S. and make craft beers that represent the cities they're visiting (they used nets to capture fog when they were in San Francisco, made a beer in Seattle with tons of coffee.)

That kind of copying is rampant in China and to be honest it appears James knows theres very little we as Americans can do about it.

Kind of like when someone in the US copies a logo from Japan.

What kind of mecha-fools would do something like that?

That was pretty stupid but the US actually has pretty strong intellectual property/patent/copyright laws and as a result the Japanese contingent was able to file suit on Nola. China on the other hand has very few such laws which leaves BrewDog almost powerless to sue or put a stop to the copying.

Im pretty sure nola STILL hasnt been served. Ill be there tomorrow so ill find out.

Also, brewdog is a scotish brewery, so not sure how those european laws work.

Their show is awesome, i'd love to sit down and have a beer with them.

Based on what I read they were pretty much given an ultimatum to stop using the Godzilla look alike or be sued. Would be interested to know what they say..

Suits are typically filed in the country where the offense happens i.e. China in this case. Thats why it appeared to me that BrewDog knew that the chances of winning were slim to none.

Well they are still pumping out cans of mecha, so that has to say something about the situation.

This is true, it could be a sign that they intend to risk being sued thinking they may ultimately win. Or it could be that both Nola and the Godzilla creators know the amount of money in damages isnt significant enough to justify the legal expenses. Would be interesting to know Nola's position on things.
