I'm trying to get a feel for what we're looking at in the National Championship as well as the Rose, Sugar, Orange, and Fiesta.

The way I see it:

VIZIO BCS National Championship
#1 BCS vs. #2 BCS
FSU vs. Ohio State/Auburn/Mizzou
January 6th, 2014 Pasadena, CA

Realistically, it is not worth discussing what would happen if FSU loses. Ohio State is in with a win. If they lose, the SEC champion is in. Pretty cut and dry.

Discover Orange Bowl
ACC vs. BCS
Alabama/Ohio State vs. Clemson
January 3rd, 2014 Miami, FL

The Orange Bowl gets the first pick since FSU is in the NC. I have absolutely zero doubt that they will take Alabama. The only caveat is that if Ohio State loses and Auburn/Mizzou are in the NC, the Orange Bowl cannot select Alabama without the consent of the Sugar Bowl. If the Sugar Bowl declines, then the Orange will select Ohio State IMO. The Orange also gets the first at-large selection, and that appears to be Clemson at this point.

Rose Bowl Game presented by VIZIO
Big 10 vs. Pac-12
Michigan State vs. ASU/Stanford
January 1st, 2014 Pasadena, CA

This is probably the easiest bowl to project. It will be Michigan State vs. ASU/Stanford winner. There is a possibility that Michigan State could fall out of BCS eligibility, but I don't believe it is very likely.

Allstate Sugar Bowl
SEC vs. BCS
Auburn/Mizzou/Ohio State/Alabama vs. UCF/N. Illinois
January 2nd, 2014 New Orleans, LA

If Ohio State wins, this will be Auburn/Mizzou against an at-large team. The at-large choices are pretty slim at this point - UCF or N. Illinois. However, if Ohio State loses, the Sugar will probably take Alabama as the replacement for the SEC champion, although they could take Ohio State and give Alabama to the Orange. The at-large opponents stay the same.

Tostitos Fiesta Bowl
Big 12 vs. BCS
Oklahoma State/Baylor/Texas vs. UCF/N. Illinois
January 1st, 2014 Glendale, AZ

This will be slim pickings once again. It is basically Oklahoma State, Baylor, or Texas at this point. The Big 12 winner will be stuck with N. Illinois or UCF.

For the first time in what feels like eternity, the Orange Bowl may be the marquee matchup outside of the NC.

The Rose Bowl will have decent names, but is setting up to be a snoozer IMO.

Hopefully the SEC can stop its relativley poor showings in the Sugar Bowl, especially against inferior opponents.

Baylor or Oklahoma State against Northern Illinois could be a helluva game. I'd love to see Bryce Petty and Jordan Lynch have at it for 60 minutes.

ETA: If UCF and/or Northern Illinois lose this weekend, then Oregon, Oklahoma State, Baylor, Stanford and Arizona State may be at-large fill-ins. I'd say Oregon would be a shoe-in for the Sugar Bowl if they can avoid the automatic bids to UCF/Northern Illinois.

ETA.2: UCF gets an automatic bid, so a win or loss for them is irrelevant. They are in one of the bowls.

If all the favorites win...

BCSCG: Florida State vs. Ohio State
Orange: Alabama vs. Clemson
Rose: Arizona State vs. Michigan State
Sugar: Auburn vs. UCF
Fiesta: Oklahoma State vs. Northern Illinois

The Rose Bowl will be boring this year.

As would I.

On the other hand, I'm afraid that pure chaos will lead to UA making it's way back into the title game.

I could actually see Delaney asking Ohio State to turn down the BCSNCG bid so the Rose Bowl doesn't have to accept a non-Big Ten team. Strange little fricker, that Delaney

Followed later that day by the Fiesta Bowl and some of the worst defense you'll ever see.

Almost every bowl projection you will find has Alabama vs. Clemson in the Orange Bowl, but I don't understand why the Orange Bowl wouldn't take Oregon instead of Clemson. Alabama vs. Oregon was the matchup everyone wanted a month ago, and it is not like Clemson fans traveled very well to the Orange Bowl in the past. Hopefully they take Oregon instead of Clemson.

I agree. Although Oregon doesn't have a great traveling fan base, Alabama would sell it out themselves if we were playing Oregon and I don't think Clemson would generate that much interest for us. Stanford would be an interesting game as well, but I'd like to see Oregon myself.

They have one of the worst resumes of any top 25 team

If Fla St and Ohio St both lost, I think it would be Michigan State vs SEC Champ. No way the voters allow Bama to not win their division much less conference again and play for the title.

I'm probably wrong, but I would bet they don't allow that again.

Because some guy in North Dakota who doesn't know shite about football would rather watch Clemson than Baylor. That's what it comes down to.

And, Clemson would bring about 5,000 more fans.

I've seen a couple of UCF vs. Clemson/Bama in the Orange bowl things because UCF will travel there...

If you gave me Bama/Oregon or Bama/Clemson I'm totally there though.

Since I live in Miami, having OSU in the Orange wouldn't be the worst travelwise, but I would still be angry
