Advice/tips needed for fishing for specks with plastics

I'm not much of a saltwater fisherman but thinking about making a trip to Leeville in the next couple weeks. Will be using cocahoes under a popping cork mostly but would like to have a some knowledge on fishing plastics. Any advice/tips on fishing plastics this time of year such as which baits, colors and techniques would be greatly apprecieated

Jigging plastic cocahoes on the bottom seemed to be the ticket in Venice. Think finesse fishing a worm, slow with a bit of action when you pull off the bottom. Lot of times they'd hit it on the fall.

Vary your retrieve like bass fishing until you figure out what they like. If under a cork in cool/cold weather pop it slow and let it sit, vary depths.
I like chartreuse beetle, purple and white or purple gold tail (LSU) cocahoe. White beetles also always work.
Brown Lures make a big ugly looking pink lure thaty is money for me but you got to get them online.

What type of plastics work well under corks?

been catching them good with VuDu under cork and sparkle beetles

Thanks bro
Another question, when fishing plastics on a jig head ( not under cork) is it better to use a tandem rig or just a single bait?

I would fish corkys first thing in the morning, Vudu shrimp after that, and chartreuse gulp swimming mullet for reds and flounder.

i have the best luck with browns and reds if its a doa/tko/whatever kind of shrimp. With dirty water go with your brighter colors.

single
color did not matter for us, stay in the bottom foot of water and don't get too aggressive

This but with cold weather slow usually works best. And find the deepest water you can if it is cold.

my dad bought a couple of these VuDu V-Rigs that I'm anxious to try out.

Wish I'd a had that this Sunday.
Though, does the leader/wire seem a little too thick?

I guess it won't matter if they're feeding and its fast action.
OP - My day Sunday was an example of how sometimes they'll hit anything. We caught then on voodoo shrimp in 2 colors, matrix shad in 2 colors (shrimp creole and champagne), a white and pink Fatboy, green beetle, purple beetle, and even a pink mirrolure MR512 (a lure I've had for 5+ years and never caught a fish on before).
All the above is good advice. I'd start with a pack of voodoo shrimp, in creole or glow or something (not real familiar with the color names, and they aren't usually on the package), a pack of matrix shads, and a pack of chartruese sparkle beetles. That way you have shrimp, minnow and whatever a beetle is supposed to mimic.
If the water is cold, as in mid to low 50s, fish deep and slow. If it warms up, fish under a cork. If you get on them, it's pretty fool proof.

If not too windy and you're fishing under a cork, trout will destroy panfish assassins. We usually used them at night but I bet they would work with a cork. They like the curl tail whites usually
