Seattle Game Analogy

Remember '09? The Patriots were the established NFL power. The Saints were an up and coming team on a roll. It was a statement game on national tv. MNF was much the same to me.
Can Seattle roll right into the Super Bowl? Not so fast my friend. Remember after pasting the Pats on MNF...
-miracle OT win in Washington
-26-23 win over dirty birds with less than 5min left
-LOSS to cowgirls
-LOSS to bucs in OT
-LOSS with starters out
-14-3 over AZ was an arse kicking
-the thing to remember about the NFCCG is that they were on the Saints 38 with 19 sec left. Without Porter's pic on Favre there was a high probability that the queens could win.
My point is that even in the most glorious of Saints seasons there were ugly losses and some wins that could have easily been losses. Yes, the chickens look the part but lost to the Colts and took OT to beat Tampa and Houston. Let's not crown their arse quite yet.
SB Champs
2012
Ravens 10-6, 5th best AFC record, 9th in NFL
2011
Giants 9-7, 6th best in NFC, 11th best in NFL
2010
Packers 10-6 wildcard
1st seed is important. Still, more often than not it isn't the first seed in the SB. The whole regular season is just a prelude to the dance of the playoffs. There's plenty of work yet to be done but this team has the talent to dance further. Buckle up and enjoy the ride.

I would normally NEVER quit watching a game until it's over, no matter how ugly. But I had a feeling that I would see Brees on the sideline next to Payton just like this. Couldn't take it. Shut if off in the 4th.

I think it just hurts right now because we got demolished and embarrassed on national TV. Honestly, if it was a noon game or an afternoon game, it wouldn't be as painful. Knowing that we got our arse handed while everyone was watching is just straight up shitty.

They are who we thought they were.

That's what I'm talking about Blues! All this negativity on ST needs to go! We're 9-3; we aren't the damn Jaguars. If y'all have no problem being fans win we demolish teams you should still be a fan when we get humbled. That's what it is to be a diehard. I always have faith in this team and so should y'all.

I agree with everything you're saying until
There's been 1 team the last few seasons that has had the 1 seed & won it all, The Saints.
I get what you mean by HFA not really mattering, but look at the 2011 team for example. That team was way better than our 2009 team IMO. We get HFA in the playoffs that year, we cruise to another super bowl. That's why it hurt to lose that Niners game bc we had beaten the Giants by 25 a few weeks earlier & we wouldve had them at home. I think HFA matters to teams like us & even Seattle because I just don't see us losing a playoff game at home. We just have to take care of business Sun night & the rest of the way & enjoy the ride from there.

Yes.
San Fran and Seattle both punched us in the face when we played them in the playoffs.
This team better get ready to do the punching Sunday night, because Carolina plays the same style of football.

Not a question of punching or getting punched (although I would really favor the former). Saints can beat anybody if they execute on offense and not let uncovered TE's run down the field.
The execution Monday night was a notch below that of Healthcare.gov

Triplett had some decent film study of the D. Thought this was concise-
Basically, the Saints' struggles on Monday night boiled down to a horrible combination. Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson was sensational, throwing perfect strikes even when he was on the run or being blitzed (more on that below). The Saints' defense, meanwhile, was completely out of sorts at times.
It felt like the Saints blew more assignments in coverage and containment than we saw in the first 11 games combined. A lot of that had to do with the unique threat Seattle's offense poses. And Wilson took advantage of the fact that the Saints were focusing so heavily on stopping dangerous running back Marshawn Lynch.

They also had ready when they spread out the WR's whomever was covered by MJ got the ball thrown their way.
seattle was playing a perfect game AND got up 17-0 1st quarter.
Put this game on one of those big arse dopey cards on the sideline for the players to look at during the game. "This. Stop doing this!"
