It's about what you do with the talent once they get there. Bama has signed the so called best talent the last 4 years. They lost this year and was very lucky to win in the past. Everyone has talented players it's about coaching!

I agree that you must have competent coaches, but the most important factor is talent. Look what Hallman was able to do at Southern Miss when he had Farve. Saban is a good coach, but he also has the best players. As far as the recruiting services go, I agree with you; they are subjective at best.

Bama has lost 6 regular season games games in 6 years, bro. Coaching is more important in football than perhaps any other sport, but natural talent is still a critical ingredient.

They have more talent than LSU that's a fact Jack. We have been crying but if you watched the game I watched it was obvious they have better defensive personnel than us. Our freshmen corners are good and Bama is much better at every position. Mosley > Welter, Collins (2nd teamer)> than all our safeties, Defensive end and defensive line is no contest.

If you didn't see a talent differential on 11/9, you need your eyes checked.

I'm not sure LSU has more than 1-2 players on defense that would see the field at Bama.

Every national champion needs luck. A penalty on a TD throw, a couple of dropped passes in the end zone, and a couple of missed field goals will nullify talent and coaching in any big game.
If Diarse had dropped the ball, would Jennings be freshman of the week?

The real difference I saw in 2011 between LSU and Bama was at QB. LSU was able cover it up the rest of the year but not in the BCSNCG. This year, I think the biggest difference in talent was on the lines. I won't argue that Welter was not of the caliber of the Bama LBs. Look how much better Barrow looked last year when we had a DLine. Absolutely no pressure was on the QBs this year. Any secondary would get picked apart. When the DLine is not helping stop the run, any LB core will look bad. By the 2nd half, Bama was controlling the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. If we get better up front , we are not that far from Bama in terms of talent. Just my opinion.

On an individual basis you are correct but on an overall basis the summary tally of stars or avgs or whatever you use does make a statistical difference to your chances of making one or more NC runs.

Are you fricking kidding? They've won 3 of the past 4 titles and their going to a BCS bowl this year.

The recruiting services are awesome if they say that LSU is the best team to ever ever ever play football. They should always put LSU in a recruit's short list even if they haven't been on campus yet.

Is this what you mean?
