My brother is wanting a new keyboard for Christmas, and I have no clue what to get.

Looking at Amazon, and just wondering if this is a good deal?

If not, can someone help me out. Looking to only spend between $20-$40. TIA.

That keyboard was $25 on 1sale.com, don't know if it's still up.

I would try to find a sale on a mechanical keyboard. You may have to spend closer to $50

if that's your price range, a Logitech or Dell unit will be fine. higher end gaming keyboards are more. depends on if you want mechanical or standard, what exactly are they doing with this keyboard? for a good gaming board you're looking at $100, just my opinion. This is the keyboard that i use, plenty of options, dedicated macro's, lighted keys that dim and turn completely off, volume control on keyboard, and best of all, a headphone and speaker jack along with a USB 3.0 jack on the keyboard itself.

Holy shite. I'm in over my head. He lives in NC, and I live in Alabama, so I didn't ask a lot about the specs. I was just home for Thanksgiving, and I know he uses a headset when he plays, but I don't think he wants a keyboard with a toggle stick or anything.

Does he have a nice gaming mouse? Those are easy to find under $40

Yeah, keyboard market is complicated. When you start looking at mechanical keyboards, you enter yet another realm of keyboard types, since mechanical keyboard keys have a range of styles (switch types with different actuation forces and travel). But they are noisy. Mechanical keyboard users think that their particular keyboard is quiet, but they are delusional. Not a big deal if no one else will be in the room while they play/type. And they are better (subjectively I guess). But the main thing is to make sure he's not currently using a mechanical keyboard, because I've heard that people who use them never want to switch back.

The short of it is, there's nothing wrong with the keyboard you linked. Personally, I'm using the Logitech G510 but it may be out of your price range. I like the onboard display to monitor GPU temps, usage, memory usage, frame rate, etc.

I'm terrible at budget items. Ducky Shine 3 with his favorite switches.

My mechanical keyboard is loud as hell.... that being said, i will not go back to a standard for gaming purposes.

You're buying it for someone else, the only way to be sure is to ask him "hey yo, I'm gonna buy you a keyboard for crimmas, what do you want?"

Logitech G105

I am using this one. I am a newb to gaming on a PC, but you can find it for your price range. It has dedicated macros, backlit keys, some other stuff I don't know how to use. Just an option.

Not all mechanicals. Depends which switches you purchase.

MX blacks are quiet. The only reason mine are loud is because they're 1/2" away from my snowball
