Anybody remember watching these videos as a kid in the eighties and early nineties? There was an old video store in my hometown that had a whole bunch of these old videos. Some of them looked legit and others looked horribly fake. With youtube and liveleak these videos would be no big deal today. I remember how crazy these videos seemed at the time.

I had one in college. bought it for like 5 bucks at best buy. There was a backyard wrestling match where a fat kid wrapped barbed wire around his waist, dumped thumb tacks all over some particle board, and leaped off the roof onto his opponent. he then tried to use a cheese grater on opponent's face.

the best parts of those videos were the chick fights though. always ended up seeing a boob and hair pulled out.

I remember having go sneak in the back section where these were and swapping them for something I could rent. I miss VHS

The faces of death videos were always in the section right next to the "adults only" section behind a black curtain in the back of the store. Another reason to try and go back there so I could catch a quick look through the curtain at the really good stuff.

those things were great. I remember one scene where they had a live monkey's head exposed in the middle of a table (the body was underneath the table) and they were eating its brain while it was screaming. I'm sure it was fake but freaked me the hell out.

Volume 1 was the only one our store had. The scene I remember the most is when that game warden tries to lasso that gator and gets pulled into the pond.

The one I remember was a magician lying on a table with a thing above him full of knives. The cheap twine didn't last as long as expected and the whole thing of knives came down flat on his face

Real or fake? The vids I watched were real (so I thought).

If you read up on them now, almost all of the clips in the FoD franchise were fake. Some were obviously real (like news footage, for example), but the vast majority of them were fake.

For some reason, the ones that freaked me out the most were the morgue shots...the other stuff didn't really bother me that much (or at all). We used to rent them as kids, and I continued once I moved to BR in high school/early college. ShowBiz Video on Burbank used to have a decent bit of the FoD vids.
