Just got back into playing this game and I'm having an absolute blast with the new career mode. I only use Jeb for easy missions because I don't want him to die but he is going to be on the first mission to Duna.

(These missions are before career mode)

So to get on topic, my greatest success was getting a satellite to orbit around Laythe in the Joolian system (still haven't landed on any of the moons). I usually select it for the scenery.

My biggest failure was when I was trying to land on Mun, realized that my landing zone was at the edge of a crater and i tried to adjust. My engine and landing gear hit the top of the crater and were destroyed. Bill and Jeb were both killed after free falling. Bill was terrified and Jeb had a huge smile on his face.

Seen this mentioned a few times. Cliffs on what exactly it is and where I can get my hands on it? Seems like a good time killer.

It's a space program simulation essentially. You start out on the planet Kerbin (Earth) and explore your planet, it's moons (Kerbin has two moons), Duna (Mars) and other planets and their moons from around the solar system.

It's not a very easy game but the more time you spend playing it, the easier it gets. It's possibly to get to Jool (Jupiter) and land on it's moons but it's incredibly difficult. A lot of people use cheats.

You can get it on Steam if you want. It's like $30 I think.

Look for it when Steam has their holiday sales or summer sales. It was about $12 or less this past summer.

Here is a how to video. It's about a year old so the game has been updated quite extensively and looks a lot more polished but the basics are the same

31 minutes translates to several hours while offshore, plus having to use my phone since my employer has YouTube blocked. I'll take your work for it I'm probably gonna pick it up on the Steam sale for my tablet. This will definitely kill time when we aren't doing shite out here, thanks for the info

I love love love love love love this game. It's so easy yet so hard. Bought it right after seeing robbaz play it for the first time well before it was on steam for like $10 in alpha.

Landed on the Mun pretty quickly. Figured out asparagus staging very early on and hit Minmus.

I have landed on a few planets and my game is heavily modded beyond vanilla to get a bunch of fun shite, make it easier to return. Built a few space stations around a few planets for refueling to make it possible to return using just vanilla pieces.

Steam just had a 66% off sale in early November, I think they had a smaller percentage off for Thanksgiving steam sale.

I've never played it, but Robbaz has some great youtube videos of playing it that will give a good idea of what it is

I was just getting into this program when my motherboard crapped out on me a couple months back. I can't wait to get my new rig built and start playing this again. I hadn't been playing long. My greatest accomplishment was docking in orbit. When I get back into playing, I plan on setting my sights on the Mun, though I'm sure I'll have to relearn everything since it's probably been updated a half dozen times since I stopped playing.

My failures are too numerous to count. RIP, my brave Kerbals.

Docking in orbit is 10x harder than landing on the Mun. I would be more proud of that than even landing on/returning from Minmus.

I only tried for the mun once. One brave soul is resting on the munar surface.

My greatest move so far has been docking at a space station refueling depot over the Mun for a long round trip mission.

Landing is hard, but orbital docking is harder as its a defined target.

The surface of a planet is a large and general target.

The one thing this game is missing is objectives built into the sandbox nature of the game.

Like maybe making comms LOS, and making so that unmanned missions need an uplink to be controlled, so there is a benefit to placing communication satellites in orbit prior to undertaking a mission out of Kerbal orbit.

at the Robbaz quote, love that Corgi, damn him for making me buy so many games. Working on the Clash of Kings mod right now cause of that bastard.

I usually always do an unmanned flight first before I risk my Kerbals, so that would be awesome.

It still has a lot of work to be done, but if they decide enable gravity and allow stations and asteroids to be moveable, I think Space Engineers has the potential to leave KSP far in the dust.

Think Minecraft (with better graphics) meets KSP

I haven't bought it yet because I've gotten burned on projects with "planned features" before (I'm looking at you, Engima: Rising Tide), but I'm following it close.

Is that the game from the Robbaz space donut video?

I like Kerbal because of it's mix of simplicity/fun mixed with it's very complex goals. I am not sure I would enjoy the game as much if it got so in depth that it started to feel like work to me.
