I was one of those in the game thread saying that, and I regret it. Yes 4 offside penalty's is terrible but people were basically calling for his head in that thread and others. I also am guilty of that and I realize it's just a game and he's just a kid so we need to just calm the hell down and hope that he can fix those mistakes and become a better player. You can do it freak!

I think he's a victim of hype.

Came in a 5-star recruit and reportedly the national HS sack record, and while he has had some disruptive moments and eaten up blockers for others, in some people's mind, he's been more Al Woods production-wise than the dominating Glenn Dorsey they expected.

The inexcusable bonehead penalties today doesn't help his case.

Closer to Woods than Dorsey, yes. But probably not even as productive as Woods, either.

Expectations are a rough thing to compete against. Sadly, many players are competing against that phantom goal.

"Freak" Johnson is certainly one of those players. His four offsides penalties in one game don't help his cause.

Yea honestly he would of been benched after the first 2 offsides it was Saban as coach and embarrassing for the last two. Hopefully he comes back next year and redeems himself.

If an NFL GM looks at him and thinks that he's a second or third round pick, I don't know what to say.

Seriously- Has anyone recall any one player EVER jumping off sides 4 times in one game? May be a record...
But when it happened on that 4th & 4, could have been a game breaker.
I know we needed Johnson, but, hell, if he did it one more time, then I think he truly needed to be benched. I am sure the coaching staff will discuss this issue with him, I know how trying to anticipate the snap count is part of the game, but not when it hurts your team. I trust the coaching staff will review this with him and he will be 110% focused by the time of our bowl game.

He should have been pulled and chewed out, and I think he would be the first to say so.
