Areas of Concern - 2014

Offensive Passing Game
Losses - I think the departures of OBJ and Landry in addition to Mett is pretty much a foregone conclusion at this point. Their stock won't get any higher with Jennings under center and RB, WR, and DB are the three positions where you NEED to leave early if you can.
Newcomers - This leaves us with unknown commodities at both QB and WR. The talent of Anthony Jennings along with the incoming class of WRs cannot be denied, but as we saw on defense this year, youth comes with growing pains.
Offensive Running game
Losses - With the likely departure of both Hill and Hilliard, we are again thin at what is traditionally a position of strength. The possible loss of Alfred Blue despite a medical redshirt compounds the problem. The reason for optimism is the emergence of Terrence Magee as a Ray Rice-type fixture and the possible return of the entire OL depending on La'el Collins.
Newcomers - Leonard Fournette. We missed on the big fish a few years back in Trent Richardson and he should have won a Heisman with Alabama. Fournette can be better than Richardson ever was and could be the first feature back since Ridley.
Overall Offense - On paper, we will be returning to "Old-School LSU football" next year, with what should be a dominant running game and sketchy passing game. While Anthony Jennings and Cam Cameron will be lightyears ahead of Jordan Jefferson and Gary Crowton, we will be mostly a one-dimensional team next year that tougher competition (i.e. Auburn) can exploit. A lot of youth will have to mature quickly. The pecking order at WR is anyone's guess.
Defensive Passing Game
Losses - We are extremely young at the position, and the leadership of Craig Loston will be missed, but the maturation of the youth back there with him I think will more than compensate.
Newcomers - We should have one of the best and deepest secondaries in the SEC and the country next year. The Jalens, alone with Rashard Robinson and TreDavius White form an unbelievable two-deep on paper at CB. With so many teams breaking in new QBs next year, this group is going to have the opportunity to feast.
[b] Defensive Running Game [b/]
Losses - Johnson, Ego, Rasco, and Hunter all should return next year if they want to do what's best for themselves. Losing Lamin Barrow will likely hurt, and somebody is going to need to step into his role.
Newcomers - retaining all of our starters and getting some quality reinforcements with our depth getting up to playing speed should result in a ferocious front line. Kwon Alexander broke through as a playmaker this year, and I'm hopeful that some of the potential that we have in the position starts to manifest on the field, but as most year, this is a gray area for us.
[b] Special Teams [b/]
In light of the assumed offensive struggles next year, this is suddenly a glaring issue. While we have been steady and FGs and kickoffs, the punting leaves a lot to be desired. Keehn needs to find the light at the end of the tunnel and fast. LSU has punted the fewest times in the NCAA. It has minimized the weakness of our punting game.
Losing OBJ as a kick/punt returner is also a huge blow. After a great run featuring Trindon, PP, Mathieu, and OBJ, I am confident we'll find another guy capable of taking it to the house, however.
Here's to another year of cursing, yelling, frustration, cheering, laughing, and crying.

I don't agree that we will be one dimensional. I think we will be able to run and pass very effectively. We are losing the two best recievers in the SEC but I think Jennings will be able to get the ball in the hands of our receivers.

In general, I look for a flip/flop of the offense/defense. I expect a young struggling offense and a much-improved pretty solid defense.

Pretty accurate for the most part except that
He has said he is definitely leaving. Obviously that can change, but he said he is not returning.
I disagree with this. Just because Jennings is a new QB doesn't mean he can't throw and lead an effective passing game.
Auburn? Just weird that one would choose to say Auburn is going to exploit us.
That likely will not happen.

This may be oversimplifying, but our passing game next year will really depend on if Quille comes. He's THAT polished and ready. Probably a one-and-done.
I think Jennings will be very good, but if he has that huge go-to target like Williams, he'll be that much better.

Are we talking about the same person here? Because many others have said that.

not sure what you are laughing about or confused over.
That dude could turn pro immediately. He IS that good and polished. And, IF he does play college ball next season...he WILL be "one and done"

Yeah, he's definitely not one and done. Besides, there's no "if" he comes here.

I expect like another ranter, next year we will have a good defense & a young offense. However don't we play Wisconsin first game?

How effective will the incoming RBs be at pass protection. For several years it seemed like Ware was the only one who could handle the job in a somewhat effective manner and that tipped our hand.
Chemistry between QB and WRs.
Chemistry of a remodeled OL. Can Hawkins or Pocic handle LT.

Why? So he can boost up his draft stock with an undeveloped QB? He's gone after this season.

Everybody agrees Les is a good coach. By now we know what to expect from his teams. I expect Les to get the ship righted on defense to some degree. He is a good recruiter and does a solid job of bringing in talent where it's needed. His teams for the most part play hard for him. They rarely get blown out. Its usually takes him long but he corrects coaching issues. As far as the cons you also know what to expect. You can expect penalties on the high end of the scale. His teams usually don't play disciplined or smart football. They can be sloppy at times. They usually can out talent most teams they play. The problem comes in when they play a great balanced team or have an off night. His teams can get in trouble in those situations. Most teams have off games. Those really great coaches can get their teams to gut through it and play mistake free enough to win anyway. All that said Les has more positives than negatives.

Red he seems like a possible candidate for this but do you know something? Don't listen to all these cats who think they are drat experts. OBJ may not care about a few spots. There are high profile guys all the time that stay. Why not OBJ
