Wife booked a room for the Galleria area and wanting some suggestions for beef tongue tacos I can try somewhat close by. That or any other new suggestions us.

I was around reliant last week. I was told of a few places but was told they would be "sketchy" for wife and I during the night.

Any ideas for us?

There is any number of taco joints you can find but West alabama icehouse (west alabama and shepherd) has good one. They will have heaters out there but still could be a bit cold out.

Thanks, my wife has a few written down thanks to our new friends from the Lizards lounge. No one was sure about serving tongue tacos though. That is one of my favorite cuts of meat but have never had it like that.

The maids and bartenders at the hotel gave me suggestions but didnt seem to overly excited about wife and I going after dark. Go figure.

Dire Wolf is correct...Tierra Caliente across from West Alabama Ice House is what you're looking for if you're scared of a little switch blade action with your tacos.

Thats the kind of place I might like but wife not so much.

Thanks for the recs folks. It was easier asking on here than the asking the maids and bartenders at hotel.

One rec we had was somewhere near the 610 at main. There was a little language barrier but that was what I got out of it. She did say she would not go late at night if she was us though.

610 and north main? Hell go to Caninos produce market on Airline...walk through the white folks section to the back where the actual farmers market is and there are some taco trucks always parked in the back. One of them has great sweetbread gorditas.

I think I am at south main and 610. We visit MD Anderson and stayed at Holiday Inn Reliant last week.

Usually we end up at Lizards pub/lounge and go to chuey's on Westheimer when we cant see straight.

As much as I love lizards I would avoid it for the next few days due to thanksgiving break. It's mad a house when people get back from college.

If you don't mind some "Local Atmosphere", you can try a place just south of the Galleria at Bellaire and Chimney Rock called Tacos La Bala.

Go there, then drive down to Bellaire and Rice (to the nicer part of town) and get a To-Die-For dessert at Auntie Pasto's.

Wait, I thought you said you were staying in the Galleria?

noted.

Been going there for a few years and have several bartender buddies there from Louisiana.

I am derailing my own thread but i love that place. A friend of mine lived in the apartments next to it. I sometime stayed with him when in town. The first time I went I was wearing LSU camo shirt, shorts and flip flops. For some reason folks loved me. Whenever we go back I am still remembered for some reason.

sorry, we are staying Galleria Royal Sonesta this time. I am usually at the Marriot on Main or Holiday Inn Reliant

Also, when I lived in Houston I stayed at the Lakeview Rv park at Main and S. Post Oak. I am kind of familier with that area along with upper Kirby area.
