For those not familiar, they have a Crystal Ball feature where writers and site mods from all over make their predictions on where the top players are going. The scores are aggregated, and you get a percentage. For example, Leonard Fournette is 96% LSU, Tony Brown 98%, etc.

Today however they started to allow other kids to make predictions. I'm sure this will be completely above board and not skew the numbers at all

But with that being said, a 5* LB that's committed to Bama just made his prediction for Fournette, and he picked LSU, so

247 is turning into a shitshow. It was starting off in a good direction by being cutting edge, but now it's blurring the line between actual reporting and fan opinion so much that I can't even take it seriously as a source of journalism. The early users were better too, now it's turned into ranters galore.

You must be new here. If you've followed recruiting for the last decade, you'd realize that what the recruits themselves have to say is more relevant than some slant hack playing to his message board cronies. Get with the times or be left in the dust, ala Rivals. The fact that "journalists" such as Brad Hoseith are still employed by Yahoo is a testament to the direction of their product.

I'm failing to see how this is bad. The recruits definitely have a different angle on predicting where recruits are going than recruitniks do. I think it's an interesting feature to have. Some of them definitely have inside information that reporters do not.

I'm not new here. I think it's a conflict of interest to have recruits predicting on the site where other recruits are going and nothing good can come out of it. If recruits are forbidden from posting on message boards, then how are they allowed to do this?

Exactly

And that's the problem with those sites. What they need is more guys like Steve Wiltfong from 247, reporters who actually adhere to journalism principles.

I have a complaint that is much more measureable than yours...even though I agree with it. How on the planet Pluto does Alabama lose a 94 scored Roberts to Auburn and a 95 scored Talaminaring (sp) the OL to USC and they drop all the way down from 299.xx total points to 296.xx total points. Uh, that is mathematically ridiculous to lose two highly scored guys and basically take essentially 0 hit to their total points. And FYI, no one was added...they dropped from 23 to 21 commits.

And people thought Rivals was rigged! Maybe Alabama will lose some more guys and this time they will RAISE the total points.

Is it a Conflict of Interest to work for a company that provides info on recruits to schools in competition with the school your website is affiliated with?

It's time for a LA school to offer BB a HC position.
