Mike Pereira ?@MikePereira 1m
My thoughts..Since the flag was thrown they should have stayed with the call. There was clear contact before the ball was intercepted. More.

Mike Pereira ?@MikePereira 40s
You could make a case that the pass might have been uncatachable, but the flag was thrown and you should stay with it. My thoughts

I hope he starts and ends every tweet with "my thoughts."

The only reason ball was even close to uncatchable is because gronk was held out of being able to make his way back onto the ball

It was a terrible fricking no call

Mike Pereira is so much better than Gerry Austin is on ESPN. Way clearer and more definitive with his descriptions

Gerry Austin > Pereira

One of these guys officiated multiple super bowls, the other was a side judge for 2 years.

bullshite. Gronk's momentum was taking him past where the ball was thrown anyway. Brady made a terrible pass, and that's why there was no call.

I have never found anything that I could disagree with MP on when thinking rationally. Ever.

I'm thrilled the Patriots lost but you're correct. That call should have stuck.

And yes, Austin's "explanation" was cringe inducing.

Garbage. Gronk was turning back toward the ball when he was tackled. The defender's momentum took him away from where the ball was going.

Horrible no-call.

Contact is 4 yards deep and ball is 4 yards deep.

ESPN had a retired SB Referee in the studio and that was his take on the play.

I just listened to Gerry Austin explain that as long as you're shoving your man out the back of the endzone and the ball is tipped or intercepted before it gets to him, then it's all good.

So yeah, I'm pretty much not listening to a word he fricking says about anything from here on out.

Exactly. If he is right, there will never be another TD pass in the NFL again. Just push your guy out of the back of the end zone and have a safety intercept it.

The end zone is now impenetrable to passing TDs.

Austin has lost his mind.

Key word in there, MIGHT. You cant say with 100% certainty that Gronk would not have been able to get a hand on the ball, or a finger to tip the ball up at the least
