quote:

Article 9(c) (pg 75):

In covering the passer position, Referees will be particularly alert to fouls in which defenders impermissibly use the helmet and/or facemask to hit the passer, or use hands, arms, or other parts of the body to hit the passer forcibly in the head or neck area (see also the other unnecessary roughness rules covering these subjects). A defensive player must not use his helmet against a passer who is in a defenseless posture — for example, (1) forcibly hitting the passer’s head or neck area with the helmet or facemask, even if the initial contact of the defender’s helmet or facemask is lower than the passer’s neck, and regardless of whether the defensive player also uses his arms to tackle the passer by encircling or grasping him; or (2) lowering the head and making forcible contact with the top/crown or forehead/?hairline? parts of the helmet against any part of the passer’s body. This rule does not prohibit incidental contact by the mask or non-crown parts of the helmet in the course of a conventional tackle on a passer.

Now, what kind of whiney a$$ little douchebag b!tch would question that call given the plain wording of the rule???

Oh yeah --

Like I said, people don't like the rule, but it was the correct call.

Thanks for the posting the rule. Just what I thought it is perfectly legal to hit a QB across the chest. Terrible call.

I think it's more a matter of you just don't see it that often. Rarely do you see a quarterback get cloth lined like that. I've never heard a referee call that penalty and refer to the "neck area" like the referee did yesterday. BUT, that is exactly what the rule says.

Also, it's clear that the douchebag b!tch Harbaugh doesn't know the rule, and he clearly hasn't taught his players.

Here's what Harbaugh said --

quote:

“I talked to Ahmad,” he said. “Ahmad didn’t think that he hit him in the head.”

Here's the Article. So, why does Harbaugh's quote even matter? It shows he's completely ignorant of the rule and hasn't taught his players accordingly.

Think for a moment what people are unwittingly suggesting: they think you SHOULD to take a QB down by his neck.

Goddamn you're an idiot. Thats a shot straight to the neck and there is absolutely no questioning it with that slow motion gif. Corey white had two consecutive roughing the passer penalties against buffalo, so I feel your frustration, but come on man. You have the literature and video evidence of a textbook penalty, but continue to defend a bad call. Only explanation for your denial is...

Is this really a suprise? Look at the two plays he challenged. He didnt know the WR has to have control all the way to the ground.

It surprised me that an ex-QB would think this call was not warranted. I understand this is football, but I don't think clothesline tackles should be allowed. It's very dangerous, your neck can only take so much force. Same shite happened to Payton Manning and he had to have major surgery.

OP, you are a Man among Men.

You walk with the quiet authority of Zeus.

Nubile virgins whisper your name and think of you in forbidden, muted conversations with themselves.

In short, you rock.

The only reason why this issue might be discussed today in Sportstalk is because they need SOMETHING to talk about.

His shoulder clearly makes contact with the side of his head. I'm not sure what everyone else is seeing.
