Thanks for the posting the rule...
Quoting Randy Savage...
------------------------------------
Give it up liar..
Savage himself was a phony amongst phonies who sank to pitiful depths in his public and professional life. (see the movie "Spiderman" and the character "Bonesaw")
You're so smug..in the face of absolute photo evidence showing this thugs attempt to harm our quarterback, you still lie. I fear it will come back on you..very very soon.

In covering the passer position, Referees will be particularly alert to fouls in which defenders impermissibly use the helmet and/or facemask to hit the passer, or use hands, arms, or other parts of the body to hit the passer forcibly in the head or neck area (see also the other unnecessary roughness rules covering these subjects). A defensive player must not use his helmet against a passer who is in a defenseless posture — for example, (1) forcibly hitting the passer’s head or neck area with the helmet or facemask, even if the initial contact of the defender’s helmet or facemask is lower than the passer’s neck, and regardless of whether the defensive player also uses his arms to tackle the passer by encircling or grasping him; or (2) lowering the head and making forcible contact with the top/crown or forehead/?hairline? parts of the helmet against any part of the passer’s body. This rule does not prohibit incidental contact by the mask or non-crown parts of the helmet in the course of a conventional tackle on a passer.
I don't see the part where this rule should not be enforced, and it is ok to try to break a QB's neck if he is a short QB (like 6'0" short.)

hanks for the posting the rule. Just what I thought it is perfectly legal to hit a QB across the chest. Terrible call.
Obviously you have been hit in the head way too many times.

I don't know if there's ever been a .gif that does it for me more than this one

This has everything to do with 2 things:
(1) People want to bitch about any "roughing" penalties that are "pussifying" the NFL, no matter how legit it may be as far as avoiding player injury
(2) A big market team lost and this is something they can blame
And it takes both to get to this bullshite point. If we lost on that call, they'd have a 20 minute segment applauding the officials for having the courage to make the correct call in a hostile environment with the game on the line.
Our @NE game and the following week were a perfect example of the bullshite way these things are covered. NE wins? Not a single word about the shady officiating. NE loses on the correct call? Well what a horrible rule they should be ashamed of themselves rabble rabble pitchforks!
